Gracenote error?

#1

This not really an EPG123 issue, but it is related to Schedules Direct and Gracenote.

Usually I use Gracenote to verify that the Rovi/TiVo data is correct, but lately I have found a couple issues where Gracenote was wrong or appears to be wrong, and Rovi was correct.

Currently I see that on Thursday night in the NYC area, Gracenote has NFL Football (no description) from 7pm-10pm on WCBS. Rovi and TitanTV has The Insider/ET/The Big Bang Theory/Mom and Big Brother (live episode) on during that time period.

To be honest, I don't know which is correct, and it might be one of those things where the football game may or may not be played based on earlier games (I don't follow pro football but the CBS NFL website only mentions one game on that date on NBC), but it just seems strange that here we are one day before air time and there is still this discrepancy and it appears that Gracenote is the one that is wrong (since two other sources have it otherwise).

Definitely a Gracenote error. Thursday is the first game of the season and it is on NBC. I looked at the data from SD for WCBS and it does have NFL Football on the schedule so it is not an issue of WMC not taking updated guide information.

You can submit a ticket to SD to get it fixed.

My main concern is that Gracenote is slipping. Gracenote has been the gold standard for guide listings. If I ever see a discrepancy between Gracenote and TiVo, I always assume that Gracenote is correct (and it always has been in the past). But recently, I've seen a few issues that is making me think the quality is diminishing.

Certainly this mistake is glowing. A blunder with prime-time listings on a major broadcast network. This just does not happen with Gracenote, at least that is how it used to be...

UPDATE: It's fixed. I wonder if Rob or someone else from SD saw this thread, or maybe someone else submitted a ticket...
