Not importing updates during scheduled task

#1

Post by d00zah » Thu Aug 03, 2017 1:19 pm

Relatively new to epg123 & I think it's great, but I've noticed something recently I hope someone can help me explain.

My scheduled task runs @ 3AM with a successful completion status, including for WMC import:

[8/3/2017 3:18:41 AM] ===============================================================================
[8/3/2017 3:18:41 AM] Beginning epg123 client execution.

[8/3/2017 3:20:42 AM] [ INFO] EPG123 client execution time was 00:02:00.6690657.

Windows event logs do not indicate anything different, or odd.

When I check the WMC guide in the morning & attempt to schedule a new recording via search/title, WMC indicates something less than the 21 days of data I've configured to download. It had gotten down to 18 days when I 1st noticed this.

If I do nothing more than import the epg123.mxf created during the 3AM scheduled task via epg123Clent & wait for re-indexing to complete, WMC will now indicate 21 days worth of data (as it should). Log follows:

[8/3/2017 5:45:01 AM] ===============================================================================
[8/3/2017 5:45:01 AM] Activating the epg123 client GUI. version 1.1.11 for Win7

[8/3/2017 5:45:13 AM] Entering importMxfFile() for file "D:\epg123\epg123.mxf"
[8/3/2017 5:47:06 AM] [ INFO] Successfully imported .mxf file into Media Center database. Exit code: 0
[8/3/2017 5:47:06 AM] Exiting importMxfFile(). SUCCESS.

[8/3/2017 5:47:06 AM] [ INFO] Successfully started the ReindexSearchRoot task. Exit code: 0

I will also get the full 21 days of data if I manually run the scheduled task from the Task Manager, or if I select 'Save & Execute' Via the EPG123 GUI. The only difference I can discern is that I'm not executing the manual imports in the ~3AM timeframe.

Other info:

WMC was scheduled to run it's optimization @ 4AM, which I didn't think would cause any conflicts. No events in Windows logs, etc., which I would expect to generate a log event if the re-indexing were interrupted. I have rescheduled this to see if it has any effect.

Import worked without intervention for my 1st week, or so, without intervention, but I MAY have moved the 'Optimization' task since & don't specifically recall.

I 1st noticed this running v1.1.10 & it still happens after updating to V1.1.11.

Any thoughts?

Everything in the log says you successfully imported the file and the search screen should say either 20 or 21 days depending on what time of day you open it. Is WMC open when the update task is run?

Well, it said '20' this morning before re-importing last night's .mxf, after which it reported '21'. As I noted, it got down to '18' before I noticed & started paying attention.

As you say, logs look good.

No, sir! Way past my bedtime. WMC is closed & system is idle (except for this task).

Fill in why I asked. Early on in development it was noticed that if WMC was open when the import took place, that number would not get updated until WMC was closed and opened back up. I put code in to "refresh" the guide after import that took care of it in real-time but it was only necessary if automatch was not selected. With automatch the number seemed to update without a problem.

2 things you could do just to make sure we're not getting false failures ...
1) next time it says below 20 days, pick a channel and scroll to the end of its listings to verify the end date is less than 20 days away, OR
2) disable the automatch and see if the discrepancy still shows.

Based on the logs everything is perfectly fine, just not that value at the bottom of the search screen.

Interesting. When I do the manual import, WMC is open & the update 'takes' (number increments)... the opposite of what you described.

I'll let it go for a couple of days & check data before doing a manual import when it lags again.

Will then try w/ WMC closed/open, toggle automatch, etc. & report back.

Hope it's just a mirage. Thanks for the feedback.

Verified actual guide data for the last 2 updates & WMC clearly HAS the data, but the '... days of Guide listings' display didn't accurately reflect it. A WMC quirk, rather than an issue with epg123. Sorry to waste your time, Gary.
