Custom Channel Numbering

I am sure someone has answered and I failed in finding it... but heavily contemplating jumping over to EPG123 and while reading the install PDF and other threads to map out what to do and avoid problems I saw this.

"15. Selecting the ‘Automatically match stations to channels’ checkbox will direct EPG123 to attach the listings of a station to the guide channel by matching the channel numbers. This setting will be overridden by the scheduled task if different.
NOTE
The automatic match routine uses the original channel numbers of the scanned tuners to determine a match. Custom numbers are ignored. If the subscribed lineup channel numbers are not correct for your provider/region, DO NOT select this option."

I can be obtuse at times when reading things... does this mean that if I turn a Disney channel that is listed as 289 and customize the channel number to be 89 instead that EPG123 won't work properly when pulling down listings? I was in the habit previously of removing ANY SD channels from my listings that had an HD counterpart and then re-numbering them in order to make memorization easier for wife and kids (and I hate using triple and quad digit numbers when I can just use simpler lower numbers instead).

Or does it mean something different and I am just not grasping it?

Don't worry about it. I think I might have to have a glossary in the guide at some point as well.

What I am trying to say is:

Disney Channel:
original channel number = 289
custom channel number = 89

When epg123 does its automatch, it pays no attention to '89' ... it only looks at the original channel number. So the listings for channel 289 from the lineup will be matched to the channel that has an original channel number of 289.

Awesome! I assumed that might be what it meant but with English being so inelegant I had to double check. Thanks! (No knock on you or your wording as it fell more upon the fact that I can easily derive multiple meanings from things based on perspective.)

So as recap - Disney HD is originally mapped to 289, I custom number it as 89, EPG123 ignores my custom number and only looks at the original Channel mapping of 289. So the "custom" channel 89 will properly have guide info updated since WMC actually knows that it was originally channel mapped as 289...

Looks likes I will be making the jump in the next few days! Thanks for all the work you are putting in :D
