New to epg123, can't get epg123client to load

#1

Since the Robi guide data is no longer downloading, I thought I'd give this a try. I'm running Windows 10, with a version of Windows 8 Media Center.

Epg123 runs fine and I was able to configure it, but I can't get epg123client to run. As soon as I open it, it closes. I've also tried running as admin. I also have it installed to /Program Files (x86), and also tried it in the root directory, C:/epg123. Still no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Two quick things and then we can diagnose further.

Is there anything in the trace.log file to indicate why epg123Client won't open?

Do you have the correct version of epg123? Meaning, do you have the v1.1.4 "for Win8+" and not the "for Win7".

I just realized that. I'm an idiot :)

I want to try to "keep" the Rovi data as everything shows "No data available. so that I can forego the channel searching and guide setup. Is this possible?

You can skip steps 1 and 2, going straight to step 3, but keep in mind that MS/Rovi would still have control over your tuner channels. Some of their updates may override the guide data from epg123. And, the Rovi data still in the database causes some strange things to happen in the category searches and movie library (future record). Don't know what your setup is, but Is the tuner scan that painful for you?

I most certainly recommend performing Step 1 for the total experience... mainly without the above risks and a much cleaner category search.

Thanks. I probably do that if I run into any issues. I have a unique setup utilizing both OTA and QAM stations which the automatic scan never finds and I have to add everything manually. But I strictly use the guide and nothing else, so it sounds like I may not have any issues.
