Program Images from Schedules Direct

#1

Post by garyan2 » Tue Feb 28, 2017 4:16 am

For those that noticed we were missing some program images, mainly new series images and sporting events, you may now notice that as of last night we have them back. rkulagow from Schedules Direct has been working hard on the servers and re-architecting how the images are cataloged and updated as well as adding some new features. Unfortunately, WMC won't be able to take advantage of some of them.
  • Station logos: there may be more logos available on some stations to provide different color schemes
  • Episode images: I took a look at the possibility in the past. It's cool, but unfortunately WMC will show the episode image in the guide if it is present instead of the series art.
  • Actor images: no capability in WMC to display these
If you want to see how the series images have changed after the upgrade, you can delete your guideImages.xml file and let it rebuild. I think all the new images look better than what I had seen in the past.

So kudos out to rkulagow for making our media centers look even better.

Awesome. Is there a way to use those station logos in WMC via EPG123? I know it can use ./logos, but can we get SD's logos into that folder?

The big button in the epg123.exe GUI will download the SD logos into a .\sdlogos folder. You could just move them into the .\logos folder, but they won't look quite right. You can edit them to get the proper aspect and change the color scheme ... whatever you need to do to make them look right in WMC.

So we should be on 1.1.1 or later and delete guideImages.xml and we'll see better series images? Or will this work for previous versions?

It will work for previous versions as well. Though I changed some code to prepare for and use new API features, the current SD API maintains backwards compatibility so it is transparent to all versions of epg123.
