Multiple attempts and still no success importing guide data

Hello,

First, let me just say I know epg123 works because I have two htpcs and one of them works flawlessly with it.

But that one htpc was updated over 8 months ago.

Due to the recent guide update problems reported here, I decided to take the plunge and update my family htpc with epg123.

I’m on day 2 and still no luck.

I can confirm the program appears to successfully run its course. It even says the WMC guide has successfully updated.

But when I look in the guide, there is no guide data only channel #s.

In settings – tv - guide “About guide listings” and “get latest guide listings” are not there. On occasion there is only "edit channel".

I've tried every attempt in the book, using the instructions on page 4 step 3b of the guide (without the clean install).

When that failed I tried running the clean install. That failed so I tried rebuilding the database. That failed so I tried to run epg along side rovi.

Each time I am certain I checked off "automatch"

None of it worked.

I rolled back to Rovi for the two more days of guide I have left.

Hopefully there is a fix for this or Rovi guide.

Any help would be appreciated.

Definitely a head scratcher, but the following might be key.

The only time I've seen something like this is if you imported the mxf file before you setup WMC for TV. Even though loadmxf will import the file, and all files afterward "successfully", it is actually going into a black hole in the database which is not accessible to the guide. Basically, your database is corrupted to epg123.

If this is the reason, then the only way to recover is Step 1 and delete the ehome folder.

Ok, So that didn't work.

Still no guide data in the wmc guide.

I honestly don't have a clue right now. I do have a curiosity though ...

I looked harder at your trace.log contents and noticed that the run you posted was running at the same time as your scheduled task was running. In effect, you were running 2 instances of epg123 at the same time. Once you opened the GUI, the task one should have failed and kicked out an error when the sd token was refreshed, but I don't see that in the log, so it must be running from a different directory.

Think this information might lead to the solution?

Thanks again for looking into this. Could it be that epg123 was seeing my other machine that has it installed?

I can't believe I was doing an update at the same time??

Even so, I have an extensive log with 2 days worth of all the "successful" attempts that did not produce a guide. So even if the last time was an anomaly that doesn't explain the other times.

What's also curious is -- the very first time I ran it, the guide almost took. Again, i did not do a clean install, I just re ran the tv setup to clear the guide. I then ran epg123 and the guide was blank except for like 5 or 7 local stations. In addition, the "about this guide" section indicated correctly the guide was EPG lineups with Schedules Direct.

But because there was no other guide data, I assumed it was because I needed to do a clean install. So I ran epg in safe mode, did a clean install and the guide was never the same since.

No worries tho. It looks like rovi/ms got its act together.

I went back to the regular guide and now I have full listings for two weeks.

It is a mystery to me. Oh, well, until next time.
