Channel in guide and added by EPG123 but not showing in WMC

I had the issue with the "did not find expected Md5Schedule file in cache directory" error last night. This happened just as Verizon decided to move WBTS, our new local NBC station, to a new channel, 510, from the existing channel 516. This wasn't showing up in Schedule Direct so I opened a ticket with them and they fixed it. In the meantime, I thought I would cover my bases by changing the lineup for the existing channel 510 to use the lineup for channel 516; the idea was that my shows on NBC would record on the new channel if the issue wasn't fixed in time.

I've now been able to run epg123 successfully, and on one computer the new channel shows up correctly. On the machine on which I changed the lineup, however, channel 510 is no longer available; if I go to "Edit Channels," it's not there to be added. I see it in Schedule Direct, and the epg123 log shows that it sees the new channel:

[1/19/2017 3:46:11 PM] [ INFO] Completed the automatch of lineup stations to tuner channels.

How do I get this channel back? Do I have to go through the "Rebuild Database" section of the instructions? I hope not as I assume I will lose all of my recording schedule and channel lineup.

Thanks.

Okay, a few things ...

1) The Md5Schedule file in cache directory is "fixed" in the new version and will no longer cause an issue. SD offered to develop another path to retrieving programs that would guarantee there were no Md5 discrepancies. I currently have another method to avoid the mismatch, but need to verify there is no impact to the accuracy of the information.

2) If you perform a manual match (516 -> 510) while waiting on the SD feed to be updated, you should disable the 'automatch' feature. The automatch feature will keep reverting back to the older lineup.

3) I haven't nailed down exactly what causes a channel to disappear (probably my fault), but I have found a few ways to get it back.
  • Manually add the channel by [Settings]->[TV]->[Guide]->[Add Missing Channels]. Not actually a recovery, but functional.
  • Don't know if this works for cable/satellite, but [Settings]->[TV]->[TV Signal]->[Scan for More Channels], select the [Delete All] button and the [Scan Again].
  • Database rebuild. The rebuild is just that ... it will delete the database, build a new one, and restore your tuner lineup and recording schedules. It will not restore any favorite lineups... don't know about custom numbers or callsigns.
That being said, I highly recommend using the "preview" version of epg123Client to perform the database rebuild if necessary. I learned a few things recently and it is much more safer and reliable than the current version.

Wow, sorry ... just read all that and there's a couple things that should have been mentioned.

1. The "new" version has not been released yet, but is being discussed in this forum for v1.1.0.

2. The database rebuild will still need to be run in safe mode... just follow the directions for v1.0.2 (link in the banner up top) but use the downloaded v1.0.9.4 epg123Client.

Thanks, I'll give this a try. For now, I was able to get my old HD HomeRun to find the channel in Clear QAM and after doing a rescan in WMC I have that channel working so I can record and watch the local NBC station. I'll look at fixing it over the weekend.
