Schedules Direct server is down
Schedules direct JSON server has been down for four hours.
Is there anyone who knows when this will be resolved?

I seem to be seeing the same thing.
Failed token request - server off-line for maintenance.
Also, I keep using Media to center to add a channel (143) and it does, with no guide data (which I would assume to be correct until it syncs with SD) but the channel keeps disappearing and I have to re-add the channel in Media Center. Isn't EPG 123 supposed to sync that automatically? So if you add a channel in Media Center it automatically adds it to the SD lineup that gets downloaded?
Or is it just because SD is down?

Has anyone notified them? Maybe they don't even know?

They apparently know, on their web site:
Notice:
**** KNOWN SERVER ISSUES. TRY AGAIN LATER IF AFFECTED. ****
Confirmed issue with the SD-JSON server starting 2016-11-15 12:10:20 PST
IN their forum, they mention a service maintenance: http://forums.schedulesdirect.org/viewt ... =15&t=2862

Yes, we knew, and it was planned; the outage was due to a maintenance that ran long because of a filesystem running out of space which caused a silent fail in a restore script.
The service should be up now; if not, please open a ticket at the Schedules Direct website so that we can investigate.

Nope... doesn't work that way. You need to tell epg123 to download it and if that channel exists in your tuner, then it will automatically match/populate it.marvin-miller wrote:Also, I keep using Media to center to add a channel (143) and it does, with no guide data (which I would assume to be correct until it syncs with SD) but the channel keeps disappearing and I have to re-add the channel in Media Center. OK, thanks for clarifying that for me. For some reason I thought that was the auto-match but I don't really know what's what yetgaryan2 wrote: Nope... doesn't work that way. Ironically, I got fed up with missing Rovi guide data for the last time just today and decided to make the switch... now my guide is completely blank. The irony is killing me.

I got the error as well, but I had to feed the kids so couldn't troubleshoot. Now that I sat back down to work this, looks like the problem is cleared.

I just got a reply to my ticket a few minutes ago from Robert, saying he found the issue.

Different Robert here... but I'd like to point out that this outage while longer than expected, was handled well.
I (and probably RobertK) are open to suggestions about how to make it better, but I think we nailed it in this case.
RobertE
- It was announced in the SD forum SD-JSON/service issues in advance.
- That thread was updated when the outage started and made global (so it showed up on all SD forum categories)
- SD-JSON (and EPG123) returned a good status message.... "Down for Scheduled Maintenance"
- The SD website picked up the "issue", flagged all SD web-app pages and texted me every hour. Unfortunately adding detailed status to the automatic system check would be difficult. It was designed to monitor the SD-DD service.
- RobertK updated the thread with status occasionally.

I would agree with this. Advance notification, regular comms and fixed within a few hours.rmeden wrote:Different Robert here... but I'd like to point out that this outage while longer than expected, was handled well.
Compare this with the Microsoft service. No support, no acknowledgement and left broken for up to a month at a time. That's a World top 10 IT company.

You do realize that SD has about 40 approved applications of which 6 use the SD-JSON service, right? Even posting on each of the 6 SD-JSON forums would be a pain. Most folks don't really care anyway as they already have data.Scallica wrote:Post a link on this forum to the thread on the SD forum.rmeden wrote: I (and probably RobertK) are open to suggestions about how to make it better
The main reason why I follow this forum is not because of my SD hat, but because I still use Vista Media Center as my primary DVR. (unfortunately, the Vista XSCF loader doesn't work, so I can't use EPG123)
