Error using loadmxf.exe to import new guide information

#1

I was using WMC w/EPG123. All was well and right with the world. Then I got bitten by a Windows 10 update that removed WMC. I'm on Version 1607, Build 14393.321. Reinstalling WMC is mostly going okay, but I'm getting this error in the EPG123 logs. My understanding is that loadmfx.exe should be a part of the WMC package. So while I'm posting in EPG123 (because that's where I'm getting the error), this is more likely what? A problem with my WMC installer package? I'm using WMC_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v12 with epg123_v1.0.2_w8.

The Win10 anniversary update uninstalls WMC and v12 will no longer work. I'm using WMC v8.6 and works fine with epg123.

I'm a little bit confused. I thought WMC is NOT available in Win10 (meaning Microsoft eliminated/removed it a a feature). Is there a way to get WMC to work in Win10? Thanks.

There is, and as far as I can tell it works okay but I wouldn't recommend it for a main HTPC. As everyone found out, the anniversary update broke some versions of the 'fix' and that will probably continue to be an issue with future updates. I would recommend to keep using Win7.

That being said, the effort to bring WMC to Win10 is all in the MyDigitalLife forums here. Looks for a user by the name T-S and look in his signature. Looks like the latest version is v8.8.1.

Again, this is a patch and a hack so if you don't want to deal with the constant upkeep, stick with Win7 or Win8.
