Yesterday afternoon, WMC locked up because I guess trying to record the Olympics was too much. All 6 of my available tuners were gobbled up by this. I rebooted it and had a guide. Three hours later, when watching on an echo extender, after having to restart it, I had no guide data at all so I manually ran epg123:

Now I have been fighting this low disk space issue for some time now on my 240 GB SSD, so I cleared some more space (When I go through the disk, I don't see where everything that is taking space is located so I'm puzzled on that one)

In between one of those runs I even downloaded a fresh 7Zip of epg123 and snagged that copy of Newtonsoft.json.dll and put in C:/epg123.. I'm all out of ideas here.

HELP! I have no guide data right now. This isn't a problem for me as I'd just live with it until I got it sorted out but the family, especially my wife, is going to go biserk! I mean one day of this and I'll be paying $80 something a month to rent crappy not whole home DVR's from Charter or looking at TiVo. SERIOUSLY!!

Do you have another HD installed? I have SSD's installed on my 3 PC's that I have - 2 standalone WMC machines and 1 HTPC. I keep all the SSD's pretty well cleaned up. All bloat folders I have are relocated on to another HD - documents, downloads, pictures, videos and recorded TV. My SSD's have around 100GB on them. I suspect disk space is your problem.

Yes. I have a 4 TB recording drive. I've been trying to figure out what is hogging up my SSD and what I can move off of it without causing issues.. There's some 20GB in the main (i5HTPC) user so I know I can clean some stuff up there, just trying to figure out what stuff but even then, somewhere lies excess bloat and I've looked and looked but am not seeing it. I have "Show Hidden Files" checked, BTW, so I should be seeing everything on my SSD, no?

EDIT: I do have close to a GB free on the C:\ drive so I think that should be enough for epg123 to run.

That should be enough space one would think although my SDD's never get below, say, 50GB free.

You might want to look at TreeSize. It reports the sizes of all folders and shows the largest to smallest folders:

I got an expired certificate error just now on their site, but that's where I grabbed the program some time ago.

I grabbed the latest Newtonsoft.json.dll from June and that wouldn't let epg123 GUI load, so I rolled back. The error continues. Yesterday, I even downloaded epg123 agian in hopes of having it correct itself with a fresh epg123.exe but no luck with that either.

Thanks for that tip on treesize.. There was 132 GB of crap in the Windows/temp folder!!!

Your initial failure of low disk space created the second failure which is a 0-byte length file in your cache. I would suggest clearing the cache and trying again.

Sorry, this had happened once in the past and I guess I didn't put the file length check in prevent this.

There was 65k items in my epg123 cache so it took a while to clear and rebuild data for 43k plus programs

I didn't get to finish my post.. It took about 8 minutes and then failed at the re-index task.. So I ran it again and had success. Last night's scheduled run was fine too. One thing in all this I also lost all my tuners and even had to re-run Tuner Salad to go from 4 to 6. EPG123 automatch put all the channels back into the default Charter numbering but I restored them from a Guide Tool Back up.

Great tip again! Thanks so much for this information. I've been struggling with WMC saying Disk Full and not even playing LiveTV for a couple of weeks or more. My recording drive has lots of space on it so I knew it was the boot drive but I could not seem to find where it was so full. Now everything is running real nicely. what I'd like to do is just stop the temp folder from getting so full in the first place. I'm not even sure what those files were to tell you the truth as they were just called things like cab_12540_2 etc..
