No mcepg.db in eHome - Win10

#1

Post by jrwendt » Thu Aug 04, 2016 5:21 pm

I have tried several time to get WMC installed onto the most recent version of Windows 10. I have tried everyone's detailed advice about clean installing WMC 10.0.10134.0v2.1 and EPG 123.
I followed GaRyan2's detailed instructions to the T.

This is the error line I get with the EPG123 import attempt.

Exception thrown from getLineup() to locate lineup with name "EPG123 Lineups with Schedules Direct". message: Could not load file or assembly 'mcepg, Version=6.3.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

And sure enough the mcepg.db file does not exist in my ehome directory. There are NO .db files in that directory.

WMC is working. It shows all my local channels and I can watch live TV with my tuner, but there are no program listings.

Can anyone help on this?

Thanks Much

v2.1 of the WMC will not import guide data into the database. You'll have to find a way to remove v2.1 and use at least v10 ... I use v12 myself. I believe somewhere in the forums there is detail on the v2.1 removal and fixes in case the removal is not successful.

Gary
Thanks for getting back to me on this.

For what it's worth here is some info about my system
Version 10.0.10586 Build 10586
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
System Name TVMEDIA
System Manufacturer Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
System Model EP45T-UD3LR
System Type x64-based PC

I uninstalled 10.0.10134.0v2.1 with the uninstall command. No errors from CMD window.
I found a copy of WMC_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v12
Used _TestRights.cmd and installer. Again CMD messages showed no errors during these steps.
Tried to run WMC , saw a brief "loading circle" and then nothing. A complete failure of WMC to load.

I am stumped at this point.

Do you have the Anniversary Update installed? If so, WMC won't work at this time.

When I tested this I used v8.5/8.6. The version number is lower but this is actually a spin off branch which has been developed in parallel. Reports indicate that it uses a more reliable installation method. All worked perfectly for me.

Some of the other/older installers are rather messy and can leave your system in a state which is then difficult to fix.

However it would seem the Anniversary Update breaks existing installations and has brought new problem for certain tuners. I think a clean Windows install with v8.6 should work so long as you don't have one of the problem tuners.

Do not have Win 10 Anniversary installed (Version 10.0.10586 Build 10586)
But where is a good source of these 8.x WMC versions?

You may as well install The Anniversary Update first as there will be no stopping it.

There should be some links in the Win 10 forum or over on the master thread over at My Digital Life.
