Listings are not showing up in WMC (Win 10)

Hi. I decided to try this out since I've been having issues with the Rovi guide. If I go by the trace log...

[7/2/2016 6:00:15 AM] ====================== Beginning epg123 client execution. =====================
[7/2/2016 6:00:15 AM] [ INFO] Import=True , Match=False , NoLogo=False
[7/2/2016 6:00:15 AM] [ INFO] import filename = epg123.mxf
[7/2/2016 6:01:00 AM] [ INFO] Successfully imported .mxf file into Media Center. Exit code: 0
[7/2/2016 6:01:01 AM] [ INFO] Completed lineup refresh.
[7/2/2016 6:01:01 AM] [ INFO] Starting ehPrivJob.exe /DoReindexSearchRoot to index guide data.
[7/2/2016 6:01:49 AM] [ INFO] Successfully completed the ReindexSearchRoot task. Exit code: 0
[7/2/2016 6:01:49 AM] [STATS] epg123Client mxf load and database reindex execution time was 00:01:34.0317582.

It seems like the job completed successfully except that the guide is still not showing any listings. Any reason for this? Also the instructions doesn't mention that the app needs to be run as administrator in order to add it to Task Scheduler. Safe to assume that adding it to the task scheduler will update the listings daily automatically?

Welcome to the epg123 club! I see there is something else I need to add a little more detail in the guide. Your initial run did not have the automatch feature enabled. The automatch feature will attach your downloaded stations with the tuner channels and activate in the guide. If your lineup is simple this feature can be always on.

To quickly get the in the guide without running epg123 again, perform the below:

Code: Select all

epg123Client.exe -match
This will perform the automatch and populate your guide but the feature will still be disabled in your configuration (GUI).

EDIT: This will not work if you are using v2.1 of the Win10 WMC install. I've only verified v12 to work with epg123.

Ah ok. I didn't realize I needed to automatch as well. Looks like it's in there now...thanks!

Quick question if you don't mind...

I want to do this as well on my main HTPC but everything worked pretty seamlessly after the upgrade to Windows 10 that I'm a little concerned to do this. The steps in the guide - this will force live tv set up again?

If you do a clean install, yes ... TV Setup again. If you don't do steps 1 & 2, you'll still get the good data in there from SD but there will be some peculiarities in the movie guide and category searches. You won't get the full awesomeness of epg123 until you do a clean install.

If you import the guide data into WMC, but don't automatch, what is the other path? How do you connect the guide data to specific tuner stations?

The user would have to manually edit the channel listings to match with the downloaded station. Pretty laborious, but doable and in full control by the user.

A bit more detail, please. Do you mean that you would add channels in WMC the normal way? How precisely would you be connecting guide data to a channel that exists in WMC? Does the guide data simply identify itself by having an identical station call sign?

More detail can be found here ... should be enough information to get it done. I of course can put together a much better step-by-step demo.

Excellent! Good visual example. I will add it to Beginner FAQ!
