Using Client on Second Machine

#1

Post by Sammy2 » Mon Jun 18, 2018 12:21 pm

Having only used on WMC box and extenders due to CableCO DRM I have never set up epg123 on a second Win7Pro machine. I want to do it now. How to point the Client on the second machine to pick up the epg?

I installed just the client on the second machine and set up the download time and then executed a mxf import but I have no guide data in WMC on this machine.

You still need to assign the guide data to the channels. Click the Match by: [# Number] button.

Okay. I just did that and then clicked on import mxf. BTW, I did not install epg123 itself or any of the help files on this machine, just epg123 Client.

Here's my current log.

I'm not sure where you are at with getting a client only setup. For client only, you still need to perform Steps 1 & 2, import the external mxf file, match your listings to the channels, and create your task.

1. Step 1 - clean start
2. Step 2 - setup WMC
3. Manual import mxf file
4. Click the Match by: [# Number] button
5. Create import task pointing to your external mxf file

I jumped in at step 2 figuring this PC hasn't been used in years if ever to watch/record TV with WMC but I suppose it has Rovi Remnants from when it was hooked into my HDHR Prime tuners that I sold on ebay a couple of months back.

I'll reset and do a clean start as there is nothing to loose but my shared recorded TV Path to my HTPC.

I'm having the same issue.

My other computer is the epg123 server.
This was a first-time setup.

This PC is the client.
I've tried reinstalling a few times but no change in problem.
I can manually import the epg123.mxf from the network mapped folder just fine.
But the scheduled updates refuse to go through?
I'm on the latest version (as of today) of EPG123.
I've deleted and recreated the schedule but that did not help.
My logs:

You're going to have to change the user of the task to be able to access the server's shared folder.

Go into Task Scheduler, double-click the epg123_update task to edit it, and click the [Change User or Group...] button. On the window that pops up, click the [Advanced...] button and then the [Find Now] button on the next window. In the search results, find a user that access to the folder (you) and double-click it. When you click the [OK] button, it will probably ask you for a password for that user.

Ugh, I spent 30 minutes trying to find the task scheduler in EPG123 on both PC's before I finally realized you were talking about the WINDOWS task scheduler.
This isn't clarified in any of the documentation online or the PDF.

Okay, well it seems I need to get my Windows Domain Controller back online before I can continue.
Thanks, Gary.

Sorry 'bout that.

I just looked at the log you posted, and there may be another issue once you get your domain controller back up. It looks like you are pointing to a mapped drive... I don't think that will work for the scheduled task. I've never tried it to see.

EDIT: It also looks like your epg123 server update task is not running either. At least not in the last 9 days.
