WMC Guide reads "NO DATA AVAILABLE"

#1

Post by Harriet Tubman » Fri Mar 16, 2018 5:51 pm

Good afternoon!
I hope you all can help me with something. I have been having an issue with my WMC guide for maybe 14 to 21 days. When I pull up the guide all the channels read "No Data Available." I have followed the steps to update the guide, but still no success in retrieving program data. Any fixes or suggestions? Thanks!

Fyi, I am new to this. I just "shaved" the cord.

Same Problem-No solutions
I am not able to load the TV schedule. There seems to be a problem downloading the schedule and making it available to media center.

I have added windows media center to windows 10. I can view live TV

windows media center finds my HDHR3 tuners and finds the available stations

I have not been able to get epg123 client to run

epg123 configure is running

I keep getting a "no task is scheduled to run" error message.

Windows Media Center shows no information for all channel schedules.

Any suggestions?

I believe the OP was about the standard WMC/Rovi setup, but I will respond to both separately.

@pmd: I took a look at your lineup and found a flaw in my code. I will try and release a fix later, but in the mean-time, I suggest downloading v1.1.19 to be able to perform the updates. The flaw was in the new feature to create an XMLTV file and there was an unexpected null value in your lineup from Schedules Direct.

EDIT: v1.1.22 released with the fix. Try it out.

@Harriet: Additional information will be helpful. Is it safe to assume that everything was working for you up until 14-21 days ago? No changes to Windows around that time that could have started the problems? What steps have you followed to update the guide?

A lot of data is now downloading. However, the data is not posting TV programs in the wmc guide. So, v1.122 is progress but not yet success. And the epg123 client program still does not run.

Are you using Windows 8.1 or 10? Are there any windows that display when failing to open the client?

I am using Windows 10.

When after the install EPG123 if I click on client nothing happens I am not even sure the EPG123 client installed. No Windows display except configuration.

Should I try v. 1.124?

Certainly go to v1.1.24, but I don't expect that to change anything.

The client, when initializing, will connect to the WMC database. Failing to appear would probably indicate there is something wrong with the database and the client locks-up or immediately kicks out. Using Task Manager, are there any instances of epg123Client.exe in the Details tab? If so, highlight them and click the End Task button then try to open it again.

I'm not sure, but I think I've seen this before with Win10 if you try and open the client before WMC has been set up. I think the only fix was to uninstall WMC and then reinstall it. Is it safe to assume you are using v8.8.1 of the WMC for Win10 installer? If not, I would encourage using 8.8.1 as well.

Task manager details does not list epg123client.exe but it does list epg123. I clicked end task
I am running Windows 10 version 10.0.10134.0 with Windows Media Center technologies. I learned this from About Windows Media Center/Software Version. When I go to control Panel/Programs I cannot see WMC listed as a separate program. However, I can turn a feature off. I don't know that I can add versiont 8.8,1 for the wmc installer.

Thanks for the help but I am not there yet.

It's been a while since I checked all the different versions to see if they work with EPG123, but the tried and true is the v8.8.1 installer. The MDL thread with the download link is here.

I can definitely tell you by the version number you listed, what you have is not from v8.8.1.

I have gone into control panel/turn Windows features on or off/and unchecked media features which also turns off Windows Media Player.

Now I need to restart the computer. The alternative may be to try to install v8.81 over the feature.

Your link takes me to a forum I am not a member of: My Digital Life. I either need a more direct link to Windows Media Center 8.8.1 or I need to join another forum or I can give up on using epg123 with medial center and install kodi or plex.

As this is new to you I am beginning to think it would be best to give up one media center for scheduling and recording programs using a Siicondust HDHR3 OTA TV tuner.Which works best-kodi or plex?

It gets complicated when dealing with Win10 since I don't know exactly which version you had installed. I know for certain v2.1 doesn't work, I think there was a problem with v12, but I know for certain v8.8.1 works. Though it is a lower version number, it is actually a different branch of development and is the most recent and most stable. My concern is whether your method of uninstalling version X was good enough for v8.8.1 to be installed.

Try this link to download v8.8.1. https://sendit.cloud/mmx050mz2dbn

I'm sorry, I just saw this post. The "Media Features/Windows Media Player" does not uninstall WMC. You will need to try and uninstall using the same source you installed from. If you can't do that, I believe the Uninstaller.cmd & ResetSettings.cmd in the v8.8.1 package might take care of it.

I believe this is how I installed Windows Media Center:
"Download the WindowsMediaCenter_10.0.10134.0v2.1.rar file here.
Then, with 7-Zip, extract the folder to your main system drive and open it.
Right-click on the file _TestRights.cmd and select Run as administrator.
Then right-click on the file Installer.cmd and select Run as administrator."

Could you give me a direct link to WMC v8.8.1 and I can avoid the forum

I did get a working version of WMC. Now I will go through the epg123 install and setup and get back to you-probably tomorrow. Thanks

v8.8.1 has resulted in a populated guide. I need to tweak audio and record and play back a program. Unless there is a problem that I cannot solve we are done. Thanks for your help and sticking with me.
