ok after trying to update via media center to no avail
i opened up cmd and ran mcupdate.exe -uf after this listings now show data till after the 4th
this would lead me to suspect auto update is still broken on Microsoft's end

I successfully used epgbuddy to get epg but for another media center application. Is there any way to write to WMC data ?

More likely there was a problem on your machine with the last update date and the forced update (the -uf forces a guide download) cleared the old date with the new data. Keep watching it and if there is still a problem you might have to reset Media Center.HighVolTag3 wrote:ok after trying to update via media center to no avail

I'm having the same problem, so just issued that command. Will open WMC in 30 minutes and see if I have more guide data. The last few days I got a notice my guide data was running out and would click download, but the guide wouldn't extend even after the successful notice.

Like many others, I changed zip codes a few times during this fiasco. Using GuideTool, all the providers for the zip codes I used are in the Lineup menu. Is there anyway to clear this stuff out without losing my custom channel numbers I had to put back?

When you do a backup inside GuideTool, doesn't it save your custom numbers? or does it just save the default numbers?Gadget Guy wrote:Like many others, I changed zip codes a few times during this fiasco. Here is what I did (Win7 Home Premium):
Start->cmd.exe->rt click Run as Admin->cd \windows\ehome->mcupdate -uf
It ran very fast, I thought it had failed. But in a couple of minutes my grid was repopulated.
Many thanks to all.

I have not had any luck with backups. When I do a restore it seems to merge the saved channels with what is already there and I'm left with a bunch of duplicates.Crash2009 wrote:When you do a backup inside GuideTool, doesn't it save your custom numbers? or does it just save the default numbers?

Thanks.kensiko wrote:It's set up to analog cable. I successfully installed WMC in Windows 10 Creator update and I know the EPG has been an issue for a while now. So, is it supposed to work or not ? I'm in Canada.
Thanks

Yesterday's update had 1 day of new data. Today's update has 2 days of new data. Actual schedule data ends 8 pm EDT August 8.
This is the first time we've had 2 updates with new data in weeks. It's also the second time we've seen a full 13 days in a long time. (13 days means fresher data).
I'll be a happy camper if they can keep this going.

Something interesting last night just before 9:30 PM EDT (Comcast at 06413). I was looking the guide, got up to go to the kitchen and came back to a message that stated I needed to restart WMC. I have never seen that message before, but I did it and when I came back a lot of my guide info was back to "no info". Not all channels but the bulk of them in the HD range (here 1000+).
So I decided to do a manual update of the guide and in a few minutes all was restore to normal again, or at least as far as I could see without spending a ton of time on it. Maybe the back room folks are still "tinkering with the controls"?

The streak of daily updates with new data ends at 2 days since today's update contains no new data.

Not sure how much the ehome folder is usually supposed to take but I ran out of disk space today and saw that the ehome folder is taking up 2GB of space.

I suggest you go to ehome and check the size of the various subfolders, and find out which one(s) is(are) overly large
