I have had enough of this and decided to switch to EPG123. There appears to be a problem with setting up TV because I cant download the "latest TV setup data". It just hangs and times out.

So it appears Microsoft is having bigger problems than just guide data and I'm now stuck with a non-working WMC setup.

I've tried two different computers, both running Win7.

I've found that when this happens, once you get the prompt that it failed you can click the [Back] button and try again. Might have to do this a couple times.

Mine runs out this weekend, too (zip code 55077). I *almost* changed episode guide providers the other weekend we were having problems...but didn't. {sigh}

The Xbox One EPG has been suffering the same outage as WMC but got an overnight update with actual data through November 12.

No guarantees, but based on the couple of months I've been watching the Xbox guide, I'd expect WMC to get the same update overnight if not sooner.

I'd like to suggest that we start complaining with emails and calls anytime we see a 2 day outage. It's the only way to get somebody to put in the effort to fix it. Waiting longer has only gotten us less reliable updates.

What The Fork Microsoft. Essentially one update in the past week or so and now guide runs out again and stale generic data.

Thanks as always to all the noise makers and those posting updates here. If it's made it to Xbox as "anotheruser" has reported then I am sure the update is coming soon (I'll know for sure when it hits Utah ;)

Someone posted here a MS support link and the support rep thought it useful to post a 2 year old article from when the last rovi change occurred. This is probably the last official announcement regarding WMC EPG from MS and perhaps this is how they communicate since they seem silent on the "connect" site and mostly ignore people on twitter.

Might be useful for all of us here to go to this article and select "not useful" and then write a comment about recent troubles to see if MS can just say some word about what is going on - if we are to only get updates once a week and that's how it's to be from now on then fine, just let us know MS we are not dogs and some people even spent money on WMC and if it's suppose to last till 2020 or not then TELL US!

Thanks for keeping us up-to-date with the Xbox One side of things. When this happened about two weeks ago it started working again when you posted about the Xbox One, so i'm hoping that's the same case this time around.

Are you saying your WMC has updated and you have guide data out to 11/13 now?

yes sir! all i did was open guide on an extender and select "Get Latest Guide". 1st time i tried- several hours ago- it said it was DLed and updated in 3 seconds. (Edit: and of course that never works- and it wasn't updated at all.) But less than an hour ago the DL and update took about 5 minuets. After the first 3 or 4 minuets i just knew it was going to work! :D

I received this email from ROVI/TIVO in response to my complaint:

Hello,

Microsoft is aware of the issue and they are working to resolve.

Thank you,
Miranda

Just got it to 11/13 here in San Fran - Oak - SJ OTA (N. CA), just like a well calibrated Rube Goldberg Machine. ..We've definitely established a pattern! Have been trying manually off and on all day once I heard it had hit the foretold Xbox.

But once again was it fixed by our upvotes/collective noise that caused humans inside the MS hive mind to hear our cries... or was it random sputterings of a forgotten server system... or was it planned due to the prophesy of the fall standard time switch....shall we ever know? Will we ever "hear back?"

Keep up the fight! :D

Mine still expires Friday night ("says" the 4th, but data actually ends at 7PM on the 3rd) ... but I'm hopeful based on others getting update that, as usual, it will update within the next 24 hours. I'm finally fed up and plan to switch to EPG123/Schedules-Direct this Saturday (the only day my wife doesn't have any recordings set. Although the issue noted above by dmagerl has me a bit concerned => don't want to end of without a working WMC setup !! Shouldn't be an issue, as I always do a full image before making any significant changes, so the worst case should just be restoring the image.
