Hulu desktop skipping frames

#1

Post by RonDMC » Fri May 16, 2014 4:52 pm

This has been an issue for me for a while and it seems for a lot of people over the years but hulu desktop seems to drop one or two frames per second, it's watchable but just slightly jerky especially when panning. I have no issues directly through the browser. I know it's not a performance issue as it's very consistant in dropping the frames, I feel it is either flash related or something to do with the display settings and refresh rates. Has anyone had this issue and resolved it? I have tried everything I can think of and my desktop computer through the monitor runs hulu desktop fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Reverted to flash version 11.1 and it's all good now, latest versions of flash must break something with hulu desktop, smooth as silk now.

Interesting. My Hulu Desktop started stuttering a long, long time ago. I always wondered why, but I don't use Hulu often enough to have taken the time to figure it out. Thanks for the info.

@RonDMC: Can you tell me the exact steps you used to install 11.1? I tried uninstalling flash per the instructions on the adobe website and installing 11.1.102.63, and now all I get is gibberish on the screen when I try to watch something in Hulu Desktop.

The exact version would be nice to know - there are multiple point releases of "11.1" in the archives.

You want version 11.1.102.55, well works for me at least. Use the adobe flash removal tool to remove all traces of flash and just install the plugin. All you need to install is the flashplayer11_1r102_55_winax_32bit.msi file in that package.

Trying your idea out... installed the 64bit AX of this version, it does look improved over the current Flash versions from a smoothness standpoint. Not perfect by any means, but more watchable at least.
