I still use it on Windows 7 and it basicly works except I can not seem to be able change font color. I'm able to load any theme and change .png files but changes to font size or color do not take effect.

Developer does not seem to be around though. I've email his about the issue and did not receive anything back....

I also downloaded the Windows 8 64bit version that just went live today. Everything that I need it to do, it does. Basically all I was looking for was a replacement for Media Center Studio which isnt supported in Windows 8. So far, everything that I tried with it works with the exception of editing the rows in the guide, which is supposed to be fixed with a future update. There is a 30 free trial if youre not sure about it, totally worth it in my opinion though.

Yes the rows feature should be soon apparently, along with a fix for backup of lineup I hope :-)
It had worked perfectly for me in creating new entry points. Plus I was a registered user and he update to 8 was free!! I reccomend purchasing.

I get an error message when I run the new Win8 x64 version (available here: http://vistademon.wordpress.com/windows-8/).

It says it can't find the subfolder "... /Microsoft.MediaCenter.Shell/..."

Any ideas? I can't see that subfolder in my Win8 file structure (there are various others, such as Microsoft.MediaCenter.Playback and Microsoft.MediaCenter.UI, but no Microsoft.MediaCenter.Shell).

The same problem also prevents me creating a support package to submit the bug.

Have you run TV setup and configured your channels?

Everything works for me with the latest one.
I have that folder in c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.MediaCenter.Shell

Yes, everything working fine in terms of Media Center (with Media Browser and My Channel Logos plugins) but I don't have that folder.

What is in there? Is it something I can copy from someone else? I'll try 'repairing' my Media Center install to see if the folder appears.

It is a folder called "v4.0_6.2.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35" with Microsoft.MediaCenter.Shell.dll in it. I am concerned your installation is in someway borked.
I have 9 different Microsoft.MediaCenter.x directories in the GAC_MSIL (x64 windows 8)

Fixed it. Created the folder and copied Microsoft.MediaCenter.Shell.dll from the ehome directory. Everything seems to work fine now! Great app.

I think I know how you might have broken it.

for me everything was ok, then I installed my channel logos and that deleted the file and folder and stopped ehshell from even launching.
It seems that using the 2 tools together is problematic.

Fix:
1) close ehshell
2) close mcereset toolbox
3) unassign all logos in mychannellogos
4) uninstall mychannellogos
5) if c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.MediaCenter.Shell exists delete in (you may have to wait for some processes to release the handle
6) replace with the clean one from here http://sdrv.ms/RU5Xh0

if you run both tools then you may end up with a very messed up guide.... I did... this fixed it.

Edit. It is possible to run both it seems. Install my channel logos 2, populate logos, copy the contents of the zip above into the right location, run MCE 8 RTB tool, change guide rows (don't use the MCE RTB menu for logos).

Scyto - had some serious errors with MCE RESET TOOLBOX under my win7 installation. Was just doing some menu strip edits and the tool at first failed to do anything. Then it broke my MCE where I could not start MCE. Hit the RESTORE DEFAULT which broke my RECORDED TV menu.

Had to do a system restore for win7 to get everything working again.

Speculate that've previous installs of XBMC and HULU to the menu strip (via those independant install tools) had changed my MCE menu strip so much that edits via MCE RESET cause more issues.

Am willing to work with you on what is happening. But for now can not recommend anyone use MCE RESET TOOLBOX as you can damage MCE with what looks like simple edits.

Latest - after rebooting the computer my MENU STRIP edits seem to have started functioning. So users of this tool should be aware that you may have to reboot a couple times to get everything to adjust in the MENU STRIPS. Just not sure why that is not clearly spelled out to users.
