Is the ESPN3 plugin for Media Center officially dead?

#1

Post by PeteS457 » Fri May 11, 2012 5:16 pm

Just learned about this plugin a few weeks ago and was excited as I like to watch college baseball, etc. I know the plugin has had it's ups and downs from reading in the forum. Anyway, I installed it, I go to Extras, it's there, it loads, and if I click on a game, it asks me for my provider (which is normal since accessing it from the browser does the same thing first time you do it). I go down to "Time Warner Cable" - (maybe TWC is the problem?) - and Continue, but it immediately comes back "Recheck access" indicating that it did not connect.

Just wanted to verify that this is what everyone else is experiencing and wondering if anyone knows that the plugin is officially dead and I should just uninstall it. Thanks for any insights.

espn3WMC is definitely not dead. It's alive and kicking well actually. The plugin has had some issues though but it's primarily b/c of my hosting provider that doesn't have the best uptime. I too have TWC so your cable provider shouldn't be an issue. Can you use espn3 outside of a WMC in a web browser? If not, you will need to get that to work first. There's also a few installation steps outlined on madeformediacenter.com web page so make sure you follow this and you can always contact me directly which is also mentioned on the download web page.

It's available for download at the madeformediacenter.com website:

I have exactly the same problem as the OP. ESPN3 works fine in IE9, but stuck asking for provider (Time Warner Cable) when trying to run from Windows Media Center. Any ideas? Thanks!

Found the patch for the problem in a .zip file from amarkota here. However, I still have problems in that the video doesn't go "full screen" unless I get the mouse out to force the issue.

It still functions. I used it extensively to watch the World Cup: Stream the World Cup using espn3WMC

Been following all the links for the ESPN3 plug-in and all of them are dead. So...is this still a valid plug-in? If so, could someone be so kind as to post a link to where I can get it?

Thanks!

You can download the App from here - https://www.amarkota.com/portfolio/espn3

I've installed the app, but am having the issue that it asks for my provider (TWC), but doesn't log me in when I provide it. When I go to ESPN3 from a browser it seems to work fine.

Update to my previous post.

The issue I was having was that I always use Chrome as my browser. So when I said that everything worked in the browser it was in Chrome. I logged into ESPN3 with IE, and it asked for my provider, and allowed me to log in to TWC. I told IE to store my password, and ESPN3WMC is working fine now.

The one thing that would be great would be if there was a setting that was able to have the videos launched in fullscreen mode.
