ShowAnalyzer Website Gone - Anyone Have the Installer?
Hello everyone,
I recently had to reimage my Windows 7 media center setup, and then quickly realized that the ShowAnalyzer website, and thus installer, has vanished off the face of the earth. I tried using and tuning Comskip, but it just doesn't work as well.
Does anyone have a copy of the installer or know where I can get one? I paid for the license a number of years ago and I would really like to continue using the software.

I have the original and the profiles beta. IIRC the profiles beta didn't need key. I can put it up on DropBox, send me your email address.

Showanalyzer installer is included with MCEbuddy. Download the last free version of that and you can find it in the extra's folder.

Is there someplace "MC" these files can be hosted? The loss of mikinho's contributions is a loss too. Anybody care to host a 'keep MC alive' site to house add ins? Media Center isn't dead yet and there are a lot of great tools that may still be useful.

(my, how this all sounds EXACTLY like the discussions we had as ReplayTV started going away for good...)

I'm moving on but MC is quite functional if one has the will. I'll gladly share what I have.adam1991 wrote:(my, how this all sounds EXACTLY like the discussions we had as ReplayTV started going away for good...)
Not sure how much of a "community" Replay had.

ReplayTV was quite functional for a LONG time as well--and had a HUGE community. ReplayTV users are still out there, hanging out in AVS Forum.
But when the company went away, we finally saw the resources start to disappear at the edges and the decay worked its way in, and we talked about how to preserve everything--just as described in this thread.
Before long, only the hardcore will remain. The combination of H.264 and ATSC 3.0 will be to WMC what the end of analog was to ReplayTV. Some will soldier on with the product, but those will be the truly hardcore.
Some things never change.

I'll keep MC as a back end in the very least, at least until the guide service runs out. As crappy as the Rovi service might be, it's free. Nevertheless, it will still be a while before I retire Media Center completely.

ATSC 3.0 and the new tuners required to ingest that will force the hands of many. I would be utterly shocked if said tuners had the necessary Win7/8 drivers for WMC.
It will be a long rollout, and ATSC 1.0 will be viable for a long while. But I remember planning for two years (at least) for my cableco's switchover from analog to digital, and following Ceton as they very slowly brought out their tuner.
It's never to early to start shaping your next plan.

I believe that's the version 1.x which is actually the crappy one. (so to speak - it does H.264 but was really buggy and eventually caused Jere to abandon the project).
I have 0.9.7 here but....I lost the email with my key
I might have to stick with Comskip. I do miss Show Analyzer (the original one, the one that worked). Maybe I should link up the 0.9.7 version on my Onedrive account. I can't remember of that was the last of the series before the 1.x fiasco. Stupid thing it, I clearly recall downloading the original version not too long ago from his site. So I had it but can't seem to find it
Update - I did find it and it is the same version (0.9.7) so now all that's needed is a key and we're set.

I've been running 1.0--"ShowAnalyzerSuiteInstallerProfilesBeta.msi"--for six years now, and it's a great piece. Never a problem.
Of course, I never dealt with H.264, and am now on OTA, so...
I tried Comskip but never got it to work. I even paid for it--WTH, ten bucks, right? I left it and went back to SA, and all is well.

1.x is the version that destroyed Jere and killed off SA completely. Back in the day everyone went right back to .9x after trying out 1.x Jere himself was pretty ashamed of 1.x and finally gave up on on it publicly stating that he had programmed himself into a box with it. He took a LOT of very public flack for it and it was embarrasing to him.adam1991 wrote: Of course, I never dealt with H.264, and am now on OTA, so...
1.x was very uncomfortable for everyone involved and brought an end to SA as a product. Historical fact there Jere was never able to recover from it and it was the beginning of the end.

I am currently running SA 1.1.0.825 and, apart from the fact that it seems a bit less accurate at picking out adverts than the older versions I have used, it seems pretty solid to me.
I assume that the stations use some tricks nowadays that confuse it but that it can be tweaked to improve the detection or am I deluding my self?
What is it that makes it so bad in people's eyes?
