I have no coding skills... But wondering if anyone has seen or knows of a Popcorn Time plugin for WMC or if one is being developed?

You could use Relaunch to start it from Media Center. No idea if Popcorn Time is controllable with a remote though.

I have done some MCML development in the past, and if you have a set of APIs for the metadata, and a way to actually play the file, preferrably using a javascript or HTML 5 player in a browser which has a javascript API for controlling play/pause, etc, it shouldn't be a problem to develop a plugin for it.

I did some googling, and I couldn't find any reliable information on these APIs...

It doesn't say popcorn time is illegal. It says downloading copyrighted material is illegal.

Just buy a Roku.

EDIT: To clarify, you need to install Plex server on your PC. Add the Popcorn Time channel in Plex. Then, install the Plex channel on your Roku. Done.

I'm quite invested in 7MC... not really looking to change just yet.... so Plex isn't really an option right now!

a distinction that is lost on most people...Just as owing a gun may be legal, but using it in most places isn't (i.e. shooting it off in town, etc.)

The issue is that what this tool is used for is to download and display copyright content (i.e. movies and tv shows)...So, in the USA, using it to display a movie is what is illegal...having the tool installed, but NOT displaying any movie or TV show you don't have a specific license to view is FINE...but start displaying the movie/tv show, and you're infringing on the copyright.

In other countries, they may or may not recognize the rights of the "owner", so you need to understand the rules that apply to you...and make your own choices on whether to use this tool or not.
