Google Play Music Request

#1

Post by DBayPlaya2k3 » Mon Sep 09, 2013 5:12 am

Hello,

I recently started using the Media Center Cast in my household and my girlfriend and I love it howver we do have one request.

Is it possible to make the Media Cast play Google Music continuesly from a playlist.

As it currently works we pick a song and it plays that song but it does not go to the next song in the playlist automatically.

We then have to go manually pick the next song in the playlist.

Thanks for listening and keep up the awesome work.

Is it an MCC issue or a limit in Google's Play Music app?

Its an MCC Issue.

Normally when using the Google Music App you can click a playlist you have created and it will play each song in the playlist from top to bottom.

When trying to do this with MCC the first song you click on in your playlist is the only song that plays and then it stops and does not progress to the next song.

Also the scrub bar (the bar that shows you where you are at time wise in the song) does not seem to keep up with the scrub bar being shown on the TV.

I'll try to have a look at the problem. I need to find a way to get a Play Music account...

If you have some CDs, you can just sync those. That is what I did. No subscription.

Google Play Music is free (as its just the player).

You can sync the own music you own (As stated above with CD's) or you can even download free tracks.

You can also purchase tracks or buy a subscription but you do not need to for the purpose of troubleshooting.

Let me know if you need help or better explanation.

I cannot create an account as I do not have an american credit card :( (proxy is not enough anymore)

When I try to stream music (mp3) that is on the phone, it simply complains that I cannot "side-load" music or something like that... off-line content works for you guys??

I have not tried mp3s that i own but when I get home ill try that as well and let you know.

Is google play music not avaible to download in your area or is it you just cannot sign up for the "streaming service"?

Just chiming in here, but Google has said that even the official Chromecast will not play songs that are actually on your device.

The reason is because your device is not actually sending anything other than a request to the Chromecast - the Chromecast then goes out and grabs the songs from the cloud, and not your phone.

Have you tried with playlists that are 100% in the cloud?

Hi folks. Is there any progress on correcting this issue? I've just downloaded and while the YouTube app is excellent, the google music one connects fine but only plays one song at a time. If this could be sorted, I'd pay another $10!

I recommend an app called Cast to UPnP: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... d.upnpcast

It allows you to connect to a UPnP or DLNA client (I use Windows Media Player) on the same network and then allows Google Play Music to cast to it. I've had no problems thus far with continuous playback.

Hey fredx, I just sent money your way. But I have to say that I, too, was encountering the Play Music issue as described above. Here's what I did:
1. Start a song playing > cast it
2. Find another artist > add to queue

Issue: I can click the >I to go to the next song with no issue, but once a song actually gets all the way through it stops playing and does not proceed until I click the >I button again. I've also confirmed that the progress indicator doesn't move at all and does nothing to control the song that's playing.

What is in the way of you getting a Play Music account?

I just bought the app and have run into the same issue.

Apparently you don't actually need an *American* credit card, you just need a card that can accept US transactions:

I am having the same problem where the streaming from Google Play Music stops after each song in a play list. Any suggestions on how to avoid this? If development is needed and idea on when it will be fixed?

I have the same problem with the songza app. I guess the chromecast send a "play" instruction automatically at some point. I am looking into that.

Any news on this? Seems like it also won't play a song except from the very beginning (I.e. no seeking). Also I notice the slider bar on the device casting from doesn't move (maybe that's normal?). I wonder if the protocol doesn't call for the playback device to notify the casting device when the song is done and ready for another/the next one.

Would be nice to get this working. Fully supported Google music playback would be a major use case. Thanks for the great work!
