DMA2100 Wireless Performance Issues
I've connected my DMA2100s wired and always worked fine (computer next to router). I've since moved the computer/router into back bedroom and now need to connect DMA2100 wirelessly.
Router: AC1750 Dual Band Wireless Router
Ranger Extender: Linksys RE6500 AC1200 Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender
The Media Center PC is connected to the AC1750 wired. I'm connecting the DMA2100 to the RE6500 and RE6500 to the AC1750.
The DMA2100 is connecting and can view Media Center on TV. However, getting very poor wireless performance.
The objective is to get HD Quality on the DMA2100 tuner test; currently not even getting SD quality. Any suggestions on best to configured these devices?
Thanks!

Make sure you connect to the 5ghz band - even if the signal strength is lower you’ll get higher speeds at a more constant rate. The only other thing I’d suggest is to try bypassing the repeater by connecting direct to the original router (5ghz channel) if you can get a signal.

Go wired or MOCA (Ethernet over coax aka TV cable wires). Wireless is fraught with problems.

While I agree that wired is best, I have been running a dma2200 over 5ghz wireless for years with no problems whatsoever. Usually people will try going with the 2.4 since the signal strength appears stronger, but even with a few bars missing the 5ghz channel will be better. My other thought is that the repeater is slowing down the connection since it’s taking in the wireless of one WiFi and repeating it to extend the range. That will slow down the connection. The OP might want to try connecting the WiFi repeater to the original router with cable and get it as close as possible to the room with the dma (although I realize that might not work for OP).DanH wrote:Go wired or MOCA (Ethernet over coax aka TV cable wires). Thanks all! I initially connected the DMA2100 to the range extender (RE6500) wired. However, kept getting errors (I don't recall the servcie...think DHCP). Anyway, gave up with wired and connected wireless DMA2100 to RE6500. The WMC finally could see the DMA2100 but just too slow.
The strange thing is when I connect to the RE6500 with other devices, get good connection/speed. Though, when I put the DMA2100 right next to the RE6500 still WMC reports too slow (wireless). Just out of luck I tried connecting DMA2100 wired again to RE6500 and it worked!! Network tuner app (WMC) shows HD quality.

I realize you solved this problem, but after reading a bit on your hardware DMA2100 and AC1750 appear to be a perfect match. These two can connect at 2.4 and 5 at the same time. Enable Dual band in the router, create a dualband WiFi, and tell your DMA to connect to dual.
As I recall with Asus there is a setting in the router to allow Wifi devices to join a wired workgroup
Make sure DMA is on the same Workgroup

Hmm.... I have a DMA2100 I picked up for almost nothing but, trying over my old Wi-Fi router, it was not even worth using (2.4ghz CHEAP N router), I ended up getting a very night higher end dual band router for Wi-Fi, so running 2.4ghz AND 5ghz (we have a few devices in the house that don't support 5ghz).
I might have to give this another shot on the 5ghzto see if it works well. To be honest with you, I didn't think a WMC extender would even be usable under Wi-Fi in the past, as every time I tried it, it had really bad results.
