The first (and only) time I saw Star Wars was when they re-released it to theaters about 10 years ago. Oh my god it was horrible. I think something is lost if you didn't see it as a kid. :)

The last 3 movies were terrible compared to the first three, so I'm hoping Disney gets it right

It will be interesting for sure.. I'm not sure how I feel on this .. I guess It doesn't really matter how we feel as much as how it makes George feel. He wants to retire yet Star Wars has been around forever and he wants to see it continue long into the future. George wrote and directed the prequels.. He has great imagination and Ideas but he needs help in the screen writing dept... One of the best Movies IMO was Empire and was screen written and directed by someone else and is hailed as one of the "Best Episodes".

I think If it's done right it could be good.. Or it could go terrribly wrong. Only time will tell.

I am a huge fan.. I think that is evident... Have you seen My Facebook Page? lol
I love Star Wars... It's in my DNA... I saw the first one when I was 7 in the back seat of my parent’s old Plymouth (Yes at a Drive in Theater). You couldn't get my jaw off the floor... The movie for its time was nothing the world had ever seen. It was truly ahead of its time. I have a lot (and I'm not kidding here) a lot of collectables and have spent probably a lot more of my time researching and reading about Star Wars than any grown man should. But I love it.. It reminds me of a time when things were simpler and fun. Let’s face it .. Being an adult and or father or mother isn't always the most fun in the world. In fact it's a ton of work.

It's been an escape for me and I have shared that with my son... He likes Star Wars... not in the way I do but in his own "Clone Wars" and "Prequel Trilogy" way... as that's the Star Wars he grew up with.. For me The Original Trilogy will always be special for me as that was my "Trilogy" I grew up on.

Part of me.. That inner kid is Screaming "HELL YEAH!" while the more adult part of me is scared they'll ruin it... I guess I'm cautiously optimistic where I'm hoping for the best but still really nervous.
Star Wars is for kids… It’s meant for them to enjoy. When you’re an adult I think some of the Magic gets lost. Your imagination isn’t as vivid as it is at 7 years old and anything is possible.

I still enjoyed some of the prequel trilogy… but only parts of it. ROTS was the best part.. It finished the story and brought a lot of things full circle but lost the magic it had when we were little.
I see that in my son’s face when he watches the movies, that excitement and magic it held for me back then and that makes me happy. So as long as he can enjoy the new movies and it makes him smile and have a good time. Then I guess I’ll be happy.

Ok.. This news has me more surprised than the fact that Disney actually bought Lucasfilm and that there will be more Star Wars movies..
Ford always hated the character Han Solo.. he's been very verbal about it over the years..
If he reprises his role as Han.. It would be a miracle... http://www.cnn.com/2012/11/06/showbiz/m ... index.html

Indiana Jones was always a much better character.

There is nothing more manly than Indy standing there, with his hat on and his whip hanging at his side, in the doorway of Marian's bar, saying, "Hello, Marian."

if harrison ford is willing to reprise indiana jones in such an awful movie, then a decent episode VII script should be acceptable to him.

Oh, I liked Crystal Skull.

I didn't see it at first because of all the negative publicity. Then several years later I finally saw it; it was fun. Screw the naysayers.

I did the same thing with Star Wars Epsiode 1. I saw it the night before I hit the theaters to see Episode II. It wasn't *nearly* as bad as all the fanbois moaned and groaned about. That's what they get for setting themselves up like that. They imagined it to be everything *they* wanted it to be, without thinking about what *Lucas* wanted it to be. Or was capable of doing.

Let's face it: George Lucas isn't a good filmmaker. Start with that premise, and you'll never be disappointed.

Newfiend have you ever watched Red Letter Media's review of the Star Wars prequels?
http://redlettermedia.com/plinkett/star-wars/

Not that I want ruin any fond childhood memories he eloquently explains how 'The Attack of the Clones' is the worst movie ever made.

He isn't? He only made the best movie series ever. Even if you don't agree its best ever you cannot honestly say its not in top 3.

Filmmaker is not the same as storyteller or screen writer. George Lucas is definitely not a good screenwriter. But he pioneered a new technology, a new genre, and a very creative premise, fantastic beasts and aliens, way ahead of his time. By that measure, id call him an excellent visionary with film as his medium.
