4K 60hz issue in Win 7 Media Center

#1

Post by Paul Anderegg » Sun Mar 05, 2017 2:51 am

When I set my GTX1050 to 4k and open Windows Media Center on my Samsung JU7100 UHD, I am having an issue with the far right vertical column of pixels. I get 5-6 white streaks, similar to stationary horizontal timecode back in the NTSC days, but these are fixed and very annoying. I tried every setting available in NVIDIA control panel for resize reposition, but reposition doesn't allow me to nudge the entire screen over just 1 pixel width, which would solve my problem. I had this issue on my GTX950, which I got rid of. I use this as my HTPC for 1080p 100%, but when I use the desktop and internet, I would like to not have to be staring at fuzzy low res text.

Is this a known issue, is there a fix for it? Guess my hopes of having 4K out of my PC are doused. :(

Just guessing here...have you run Display Setup from within WMC? and if so, What are you set to?

DavidinCT wrote some details of that type of setup. Click on his name and view all posts. It wasn't that long ago when he wrote the book on 4K with 7.

There is one of the posts..... http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/vie ... 273#p84273

Nod, wink, grunt or groan if you got that.

set windows to run at 2160p @60hz, and do the same in WMC.

Are you using HDMI from the GTX to the TV? and are you using the HDMI Port on the TV. Or Does it go through an amp before it gets there?
According to the manual, that TV does everything. I was just looking at page 160. The TV does 2160 @ 60 I seem to remember a 2 choice setting on my old Samsung where I could force it to stay the same or display whatever is sent in the same resolution. I set WMC, Windows (the display adapter), and the TV to stay the same at all times.

Is your TV settings/connections set to PC ?

Do those lines disappear if you force all 3 to stay the same?

You might have to make a choice between WMC or DP. Many others before you connected WMC to the TV's hdmi, then connected PowerDVD to DP, then switch connections at the TV.

afaik PowerDVD plays DRM, If yours records protected, it plays protected.

Is the issue similar to this one?:

I used the regedit method with Vista TV Pack to get 1080p to play nice.

I had this issue ( a few white flickering bars on the right side) that did fixed the issue, takes a little tweaking but, then you can export the key as a reg file, and if it happens again (rebuild, or driver update), then reapply it.
