Does anyone have any experience with the Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD PCIe tuner?
Especaily compared to Silicon Dust HD Homerun, either Connect or Extend?
Hauppauge OTA tuner?

Never tried that one Adam. Should be OK though.
What is stopping you from going Silicon Dust?

Oh, I have three HDHR OTA. But I was running into some problems, and thought it was the tuners and thought I might switch things up a bit if need be.

Have you been over to TvFool to see what strength of signals you can receive? How good is your antenna?adam1991 wrote:Oh, I have three HDHR OTA. But I was running into some problems, and thought it was the tuners and thought I might switch things up a bit if need be.

Yeah. Things seemed to be OK for awhile, then suddenly poof. The timing was such that I attributed it to the growth of foliage between me and a couple of the broadcasters.
I was also able to correlate the signal problems with the sun going down, as well as drastic weather changes--sudden storms and weather fronts coming in. So I thought, maybe I just need more gain to yank more signal through the leaves and the weather--so I started looking at larger antennas.
But one tuner in particular seemed to be causing more problems than the others, so I sent it to the bottom of the priority list for those two problem channels. That seemed to help a bit, I think.
But something happened and I ended up restarting a bunch of things; it could have been the tuners, it could have been the switch, it could have been WMC. Dunno. But all of the sudden the garbage channels went crystal clear, before all the foliage went away for the fall.
Still figuring it out. Want to stick with HDHRs, for a bunch of reasons. But always looking for alternatives. (That's why I have a BF Tivo sitting upstairs in the box...)
