Is Win10/Edge a true HTPC component?

Edge is a POS, I uninstalled it.

Well, I don't play much inside Windows, but I did play with Edge a little bit.

And I agree with you.

That all being said, I chose to simply ignore it rather than rip it out by the roots.

Nuff about Edge. Does this article mean that Netflix will now have something worthwhile to watch, or are they going to start playing HBO re-runs from 2011?

Well, that's a different topic--but Netflix has plenty for me to watch.

For example, several months ago I discovered NCIS. I just finished season 4 (DiNozzo just met La Grenouille in the flesh!). Great show. That it came out in 2003, and that I'm currently watching episodes from 2007, doesn't alter or diminish my appreciation for it one bit.

I have no need for Netflix to be showing me current movies a week after release for it to be useful to me.

OK, getting back on topic then. A month or two ago I installed the Netflix Plugin for WMC. Worked fine. The first error (might have been the only one) that I experienced, was that I had to open Internet Explorer and log into Netflix prior to running the plug in WMC. So since WMC is the core of the HTPC and IE was required to get Netflix into the core....I would say yes, Internet Explorer is a HTPC component. Since Edge was not required (at the time) , (might be different now) , I would say Edge is not a HTPC component.

You can also watch Netflix in the Edge browser. I seem to remember installing Silverlight/HTML5 to enable this during my Netflix Trial Membership.

You can also watch Netflix in the newer versions of IE, Older IE versions need the WebM plug-in.
