Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1800 + Motorola VIP1200 receiver

I recently changed my TV feed provider from DirecTV to AT&T. Prior to this change MCE worked perfectly with my DirecTV receiver. However, I can't seem to program/teach my MCE IR transmitted to change the channels on my AT&T/Motorola VIP1200 receiver.

I attempted the 3 methods: 1) Automatic, 2) select a model from the list of receivers, 3) manually program the system.

One question I have is about the AT&T feed: Does MCE considered it cable or satellite?

Is there another model of receiver already in MCE's list that will function similar to the Motorola VIP1200 receiver?

Note that my IR transmitted and IR remote receiver are units from my original HP MCE computer from about 10 years ago.
