I ordered 2 of these earlier in the week too. People in the comments section said they received the 6981 in any case even though the picture was the 6980.

Good to know, they look like good cards.
I keep meaning to look into the specs of the various boards to see if there are any real differences, or if it's maybe just component changes etc?.....

Hello all, nice site - thanks for the redirection Rob
That tbs 6981 has a power socket on it doesn't it - what does it require?

My 6981s arrived on Friday. Installed and all working well now. They do both have power sockets on them but as I'm just straight connecting to the old Sky satellite dish there was no need for that.

Did I read somewhere that people with the TBS6981 were using the Hauppauge DVB-S2 Patch.exe tool to get it working in MC?

The price of the quad is not much more than I paid for two duals. The advantage of course is that it frees up a PCI-E slot that I could use for something else. I suspect it would probably use a bit less power too. I stopped mixing terrestrial and satellite though as it was becoming annoying doing the merge. I miss a couple of channels but nothing important.

A friend of mine has the 6981 and he's just started using the xx.19 driver that not officially released yet - he says it works pretty well:

Wow, there seem to be a lot of tuners coming out recently!! Choices choices!.
My only problem, ok 2, with these dual/quad tuners, esp dvbs tuners, is getting the satellite feed connected easily - 4 connectors sounds like a nightmare to attach!
The other problem is, they must get really warm.
Wonder how well this quad dvbs2 tuner works - its tempting!

I bought and installed on this week (having my Compro S350 being rendered HD-neutered due to the BBC). Installed the latest driver and just let it scan. Didn't use the Hauppauge patch or anything. Picked up everything. SD/HD/everything. I also put in a Freeview HD USB dongle at the same time and am receiving BBC HD via both the satellite and aerial feeds. Working a charm. Direct in 7MC.
Only thing is I had to plug in power. I'm just using a standard satellite but, without connecting some of the molex connectors, it just didn't show up in the system. I went from zero to two plugged in at once, may have been okay with one.
I'm due to install another one of the same card into a shuttle PC this weekend so crossing fingers this'll be as straight-forward. And hoping that it has sufficient molex connectors!
Craig.

whats the best driver to be using with this 6981? Fitting it over weekend when new mobo arrives. And regards the power thing read some people need it connected some don't would be interesting to see which members have this card and whether they need it powered or not
