Stop video from playing when going to guide?

#1

Post by TheMightyGeckoe » Sat Aug 13, 2011 6:20 pm

I am sure this is probably a weird question and I apologize.

I had to remove the video card from the htpc because it was located too close to my tuner card causing artifacts to be displayed. I am now using the onboard video which is fine in almost every aspect except for when I go to the guide. When I go to the guide (full screen) it moves really slowly (5-10 seconds between pushing the button and it moving on the guide) due to the video playing in the background, which begins stuttering as well.

Is there a setting or a registry fix to turn off or minimize the video when going to the guide?

Not sure if I've seen any fix like this... You could always press the "stop" button... if you started off in the guide, it will take you right back to the guide.

Are you using up to date drivers for the onboard GPU or the default Windows ones?

For some bizarre reason it won't let me update the video driver. I downloaded the chipset drivers for my MB and the 10.2 legacy drivers from ATI. The board has an ati 2100. It will install every part BUT the graphics drivers. Oh, well. The stop button works like a charm, though, thank you makryger.

No problem! I happen to specialize in solving problems without actually solving problems.

Just an update. The stop button worked wonderfully but while trying to fix another problem, I realized that the resolution was set to 1920x1080. I reduced the resolution to 1024x720 and it solved that problem.
1080 for on-board video, apparently bad. 720, good.
