Movie Library Icons 'Shuffle' why?
Hello All.
Hope you can help me out. This behavior has been going on for a while and it is just driving me crazy!
Every 5-15 seconds. the Icons of the Movie Library 'shuffle' twice. I mean the icons fade to blue, come back while scrolling to the left of the screen. It happens very quickly and comes with the navigation sound. This happens even if the WMC window is in the background.
Any ideas what is causing this? How I can make it stop??
it if helps.. this is WMC on Win7 64 bit. 2ghz Quad core, 4 gig ram, 202 backups of owned media in my collection,

Hi!
I've never seen that particular issue.
Are the backups stored locally?
What format are the backups in (VIDEO_TS / .avi / .mkv etc..)?
Do you see metadata and covers info for all movies (if so, is it being fetched by Media Center or have you provided .xml files)
Throw away idea:
Have you tried leaving the system for a while (maybe for half an hour) when you first launch the movie library to see if it helps maybe? It can take a while for MC to cache all info for Movies sometimes.

The backups are stored locally in VIDEO_TS form
Do have metadata for most.. but not all. Some titles are from very small production houses that even 'my movies' don't have listings for.. Hmm I suspect I know why you asked that. You think WMC is going out & looking for the metadata for those titles and causing the 'shuffle'?
Oh my god. I just saw that looks a lot like 'code' for porn.. haha noo. they are unauthorized documentaries about Disney/Disneyland. really.. I swear!
I'll leave it on overnight & see if WMC gives up trying to get metadata on the ones it cannot find....

You could also try adding metadata for the missing movies manually in your My Movies collection (make sure MM is set to output Media Center metadata). That should put a .xml file in the movie folder that Media Center will read.

Yeah it sounds like fetching of metadata. When ever I'm editing my movie metadata via DVDLibrary Manager while movie library is open, it does the same thing once I update something.

I have seen that shuffling behaviour before... in the Media Center Movie Library it can happen if you have a large number of movies and the delete a few of them. It seems to take an age for them to actually dissapear from the movie strip, and during that time the strip can get a bit twitchy. I would seconf the suggestion of leaving it open on the movie library screen and give it time to sort itself out.

I also notice this when media is spanning multiple drives that may have powered down. I really hoped Microsoft would have addressed the bug ridden movie library. Oh well.
