Exclude .mp4 from movies library?

#1

I'm starting to get a big collection of trailers, and video backdrops for my emby library but they all have to be nested inside of a given movie's folder. These are all .mp4s so is there a way to exclude that file type from the WMC library? Thanks.

The 1st question that comes to mind is "Why use the native library when you could use 'Emby for WMC'?" It started to choke on new content updates when my library contained ~700 movies, so I moved to Emby.

As to your question, I can find nothing about excluding supported file types from WMP/WMC libraries, but I can imagine a 'gross hack' that might accomplish what you're looking for:

Create parallel library structures for movies & extras:

i.e.

x:\media\movies\movie (date)\movie.ext
x:\media\extras\movie (date)\extras\extra.ext
x:\media\extras\movie (date)\backdrops\backdrop.ext

Add both movies & extras paths to your Emby library, but only the movies path to WMC.

Emby SHOULD correctly merge & display content from different 'sources'?

I DID say it was a 'gross hack'...
