So i have been battling this issue for a while and i have even rebuilt my HTPC in hopes of getting rid of this issue but it keeps coming back. Here is what is happening
I start watching tv and 2-3 minutes into watching the screen will stutter and turn into blocks and than continue and this will continue to happen. It does not matter if i am recording 1 or 3 channels or what else is going on on the htpc. I have run the perfomon and it is a Quad core i7 which is basically sitting idle, it also has 16GB ram which most of it is free, it has a SSD with 512MB/Read and Write for the OS and the 2nd one is there for recording. The HD is not spiking the network is not spiking no spikes what so ever but windows media center does the stutter.
I tried to use the HDPrime viewer and that does not stutter so it has got to be something in the WMC config i just dont know what it could be? This stutter started at least a year ago before that i have been running the same setup for 10 years with no issues.
I also use ShowAnalyzer to skip commercials but it does not matter if it is running or not.
this happens on all channels
Please someone tell me i am not the only one having this issue.

I would lead to recording hard drive starting to fail (check for bad sectors and SMART checks on it, use HWinfo). Or Network based issues. I have personally seen this pop up time to time when my old Hard drive was starting to fail. For me, it was just random, I would watch TV and it would be breakup mess after a few min, or on a recorded show, the first 5-10 min was fine but, then it broke up to be unwatchable, this was a hard drive failing.
Check your hard drive, and change out your switch for your network just to test... Maybe a 2nd NIC with a crossover cable if your not sharing the tuner with other machines ? (not sure if anyone has done that one)

I agree with Dave,
If your system has other drives, change Record location as a test.
