Increase the timeshift tv buffer?

It is too low. I have plenty of free space, over 2 TB.
So when your watching an hour long show, you can not go back to the beginning of the show. The progress bar displays itself as being able to go back say 20 minutes, 40 minutes into the show.
Half hour shows similar thing occurs.

No. I'm not sure if there is a limit, but I've seen people set this to a value as high as 1800 without a problem.

There is some tweaks to this. I am at work right now. I have a little script at home. I have been able to extend it to 6 hours... In fact, I was working with someone at Microsoft's eHome team (when WMC was active) figuring this out before it was public knowledge... cool little time..

The Registry setting above works fine (just remember reboot after changing), if 120 min (2 hours) is fine for you, I would just do that.

6 hours is kind of cool. I paused something as I was getting a drink, wife pulled me said we have to go...I forgot the TV was on... came back 5 1/2 hours later, TV was still paused, I watched all the shows that were in the buffer. It still will not record the buffer... For example, start a show 20 min into it, you want to record it so someone else can see it, it will only record from the LIVE time you hit record.

Note: there is a balance on this, between amount of files and size of files. If you try to go NUTS, you can break WMC. Getting more than 6 hours before a script broke WMC, I think 6 is the max being safe.

If you want the little script, I can possibly post it when I get home.

I do forget the EXACT settings off the top of my head, as it's one of those set and forget things for me..

I've used Mike's ModernMedia UI to make registry tweaks in WMC7. It seems to work great and you can set your buffer (and other previously manual tweaks) with it.
