Tuner change

#1

Post by ravsitar » Tue Jul 25, 2017 8:20 pm

I've tried searching the forums and I can't seem to find an answer. So I'll start a new question.

I currently have a setup with a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2255 card in it (2 tuners).

I'd like to swap that tuner out for a Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD card with 4 tuners.

Can I just swap them out without doing anything in WMC? Do I need to just rescan in WMC? Or do I need to do a clean slate with WMC and set it all up again? Or some combination of that?

Thanks

I did that exact same change. You will need to re-run TV tuner setup in WMC to have WMC recognize the new tuner card.

Did you have to change your EPG setup?

I use EPG123 so I went thru the normal setup of an OTA tuner with EPG123. I.e. scan for channels, add missing VHF channels, etc. I also use
MCLXL and all my logos were still there. You will lose your favorite lineups though. Won't lose scheduled recordings or series though.
I would recommend imaging your disk before a change like this so you can go back easily.
