Anyone archive that Digital Cable Diagnostic Tool?
Hey guys,
I'm looking for that Digital Cable Diagnostic Tool that someone shared years ago. I've seen links from this forum... but the Microsoft Experts community is dead now, and none of the links work.
The original link was:
http://experts.windows.com/windows_medi ... 51891.aspx
I can get to it via archive.org, but it's giving me a server error when I try to actually download the file. Googling for "DCTDiag.msi" turns up nothing as well.
I know I can do something similar by going to the IP address of my CableCard tuner and poking around in there, but the screenshots I've seen of that tool seem really neat, and I want to be able to do a channel scan to make sure I'm getting all of the channels I'm supposed to be getting.
So has anyone here downloaded that and kept the file on your hard drive? I'd love to get a copy of it - and I can mirror it on my server as well.
Thanks

I think I tried it once before, and it blew up my HTPC. Might have been my inexperience, but..... better safe than.....
Do a System Image before you try it

If you have a Ceton tuner, their diagnostic is pretty good. I can point you in the right direction if necessary. You can use the Ceton Diag without a ceton tuner.drfsupercenter wrote:Awesome, that's it. Thanks!
HDHR-3CC has its own as well. Just go to the IP of the tuner. Over at the Silicon Dust website, they have an amazing set of command line tools also.

Nice, thanks for posting. I had a copy of this at one point but, some of my very valued WMC tools got lost over the years (I now include my TOOL box in my weekly backup of my WMC machine)Crash2009 wrote:SOAB, look what I found.
