Proper GPU levels for Windows Media Center?

#1

I am having a difficult time figuring out what the "proper" input and output levels for WMC playback are. I am using my Intel integrated graphics, with HDMI level set to limited, and video input set to limited as well. When I set video input level to auto, the desktop stays the same, but Windows Media Center playback levels change to full. I have read previously that WMC sets everything to limited, but this doesn't seem to be the case.

When I calibrate my TV using HCFR, WMC set to limited/limited allows me to have a somewhat matching brightness level of 45 for both PC playback and in TV app playback, like Netflix. I am dealing with somewhat of a black crush though, and blacks can be made to look better by setting video input to full and then dropping blacks on the TV, but then my Netflix app has superblack crush. Why does Windows Media Center tell my GPU to switch it as a FULL video input signal. What is considered CORRECT settings for playback?

To be clear, like most video card controls, there is a video input level, how the system deals with video levels on the desktop, then the HDMI output level, how the system sends video outside of the computer.

Maybe I don't understand your question, if so, maybe this will bump your question to someone that does. I set WMC and the Video Adapter to 1920 X 1080, same for the TV

I use a HD-6770 with the WU plain-Jane driver from 2011.

Then setup the Display in WMC.

Here is the entire Setup Custom, from reset to rebuilt.

I use AVS to setup my TV's. Usually you will find a thread full of recipes for your TV.....Punch in your model http://www.avsforum.com/forum/index.php?f=26
