PlayReady will not download

#1

Post by stevethebrain » Mon Nov 28, 2016 2:37 pm

I have problems w/ W7MC when I click a recorded program then click play it won't play it reverts back to the recorded programs list.

decided to reinstall the W7OS I actually recloned my Samsung SSD have done this a few times over the years.

I gave up attemping to resetup the HTPC now I attemping again here’s where I’m at so far.

I’m convinced the playready is interfering w/ the resetup it simply won’t download found a possible solution from Silicon dust forum board.
Solution 1:

1) Go into Control Panel, click "Uninstall a program", and uninstall "PlayReady PC Runtime".

2) Run Windows Media Center. Update PlayReady by going through Tasks, Settings, TV, TV Signal, Update PlayReady.

Playready still won’t DL

Here are the error codes I get
0x80072EFE
0X80244017
0x80240022

I spent 5 hours and many attemps to DL.

Thanks for any helpful advice. STB

Probably due to having a new set of DRM keys. Do you have any backups of your OS before the problems started?
Does a fresh recording of a premium channel program play back okay?

I actually had the problem so I recloned my orginale HHD (the oringal HDD didn't have any issues) to my C: drive which is a Samsung SSD I've done this a few times over the years however this time it wasn't the solution.

I can't playback anything can't watch live TV
this is the message I get
video files are not installed correctly or are not working restart MC or restart PC restarting resolves nothing.

Thanks for advice STB

I think your issues are due to the files being moved. See this thread:

there where many different senarios on that mS site

ms site is very presumptuous that I understand PC terminologly like resistory ect.

I have looked at my w7mc storage locations and they have the same name as the hdds in the pc. like the z drive in W7MC is the ame as in the PC
is this the correct method to verifiy if files have been moved?

I have in the past observed W7MC deciding to change the drives name like W7MC changes the z drive to the H. where I changed back to Z easy fix.

There is a setting in WMC where you pick what drive you use for the live buffer. I think you need to de-select whatever it is, and re-select the correct one again. Same goes for all your other recorded TV drives/folders. Something in your config has been corrupted if you can play or record anything. I saw your screenshots in the other thread. They all look ok, but deep in registry could be pointing to the wrong place, hence re-doing the setup may help.

Would this be the procedure for

WMC where you pick what drive you use for the live buffer
Tasks/TV/recorder/recorder storage then change this drive?

I’ve never sean a setting for live buffer in WMC.

I’ve actually tried this renaming the storage drive months ago it was’nt the solution then what I did was change the current storage drive to another maybe since all my drives are corrupted this is why it didn't resolve the issue? I will try again.

Also are you saying I need to rename each of my storage HDD in the PC?

Thanks STB

The buffer for live TV is in a subfolder of the location you specify for your recording storage.

There is no separate setting for live buffer. It simply follows the location of where you set your recordings.

Yes, the live buffer follows the recording location. I would at least temporarily change that and see if your recording starts working.

I wouldn't say rename the other folders/drives, but at least change all the settings to something else temporarily, then change them back to what you want, just so they all change and hopefully clean up anything that's misdirected in the registry at the moment.

That's about all the advice I can offer since I haven't used WMC in years. I'm getting fuzzy on the details.
