Emby and Net 4.6 causing WMC no tuner

#1

Post by Crash2009 » Thu Sep 22, 2016 2:02 am

Been away from Win7 WMC for awhile. Anyway I had a look at my main Win7 WMC box the other day, its running WMC....WMCServer.....and Emby. Emby was whining about some update it needed..specifically .NET 4.6 Reluctant to get screwed over by an update, and remembering that I had to make some .Net adjustments in Win10... I did a restore point first, then allowed Emby to update itself to .Net 4.6

Next thing y'know WMC is having No Tuner, No Signal, Weak Signal, you are not subscribed to this channel, Call your Cable Company...basically WMC started telling a bunch of lies...reverted to the Restore Point and everything is fine now. The problem kind of felt like Emby was trying to grab the tuners while WMC was about to use them, however I did not check Emby to confirm my suspicion.

So, I guess the question is...Has anyone had success with installing Emby and Net 4.6 Fresh rather than doing the update? or do you have any other suggestions. I would like to keep Emby but if it is going to cause problems, I'll dump it without a 2nd thought.

I wonder if that might be the bigger cause for my problem that I am having with audio. I utilize Emby all the time and did not think twice about it being the issue that I am having with sound and playback.

Dont know...Mine was working fine until I gave Emby the Net4.6 it asked for. There was a Critical Update from windows right around the same time. I am hoping someone else adds to the report before I do anything drastic.

Did yours ask for you to upgrade Net4.6? Can you figure out if Net4.6 is installed?

We cant be the only ones...check Emby's forum. It is likely pretty easy to uninstall Net4.6

I use Emby and WMC on same PC and installed the 4.6 Net update as soon as it asked for it weeks ago and never had a problem.

I did have ServerWMC (to feed Emby) but now use Emby's built in Live TV with my HDHomeRuns and Schedules Direct.

You could try again and exit ServerWMC to see if it's that plugin causing the issue? Just a thought.

Cheers

What tuner? I use Emby/ServerWMC/SWMCPlugin with a Ceton Eth6 & haven't had any issues since installing the requisite .NET/recent MS updates. Generally speaking, when things act up as you describe, the quickest fix I've found is to reinstall the Ceton driver package. YMMV

I, like you, have not had any issues with .net v4.6 and WMC LiveTV.

I run ServerWMC and AFAIK it is still required to get LiveTV in Emby. Did I miss something?

HDHomeRun tuners w/ DLNA functionality are now supported natively by Emby, so ServerWMC would be unnecessary.

I missed that one. I'm on the beta so I'm pretty sure I'm good. Do you have a link to the thread on this in the emby forum? BTW, my HDHR Primes are the old version (2011 and 2013) so maybe they don't have DNLA and I still need ServerWMC?

Emby has a dedicated forum for LiveTV, as well as a WIKI section for same.

& w/out WMC native guide data, you'd need to subscribe to Schedules Direct (~$25/yr) to get guide data.

I just totally missed it as I don't spend a whole lot of time there because I basically just watch recordings when I'm away via Emby and it works so I haven't worried much about it.

I do subscribe to Schedules Direct for epg123 so I'm getting the same data anyhow via ServerWMC or maybe natively in Emby because I know I put my Schedules Direct log in information in the the Emby Configuration a while ago. Hmm.. Probably best to just leave well enough alone. It works so why "fix it"?

Thanks for the support guys. It appears that since you guys never had a problem with Emby and .Net......it must be something wrong with my machine. After keeping an eye on it for a bit, it appears I need a different chipset driver.

What Chip Set are you using? Not sure but maybe you MoBo doesn't support this latest version of .NET Framework??

Chipset NOPE.

Everything is good after I downloaded (.Net 4.62) Stand-Alone installer. I was sure missing Live TV in the truck.

That didn't last long....WMC got broken...wouldn't record anymore.

I thought maybe mixing HDHR-3CC and Infini4TV might be causing issues so I removed HDHR from the network. Infini4 worked for awhile then everything fell apart.

Went back to a restore point, downloaded a new copy of Emby, the install had .NET 4.62 built in and required a reboot, prior to the 2nd half of the Emby install.

Testing Wan Live TV right now on the tablet, HDHR's channels are working well, Infini4's channels don't work. The EPG on the tablet shows all the HDHR channels as blank cells, Infini4 channels are populated normally, including My Channel Logo's customization's.

So it appears I am streaming from HDHR, and viewing EPG from WMC.

Maybe I'll try installing the HDHR in Win7-WMC.

Here is the fix I used to correct WMC's Recording Error 2147024891

The WMC wont record issue continued until I adjusted the permissions for the Recorded TV folder on the new recording drive. WMC is recording again.

Do I need to go get Tuner Salad? WMC gets the 4 InfiniTV tuners but only 2 of the 3 HDHR-3CC. EDIT...Forget it...if she gets 6 she should get 7

I think she needs a reset, then Setup Custom.
