Comcast Instant TV?

Does anybody know if a cable card tuner (such as hdhomerun prime) is able to record through WMC if you only have this streaming service and not a regular cable tv package? I have service with Comcast, but it’s not this new streaming service. I would assume it only sends a signal when you specifically request it rather than always, but I don’t actually know how it works.

It sounds like no. I don't think a tuner is needed with any streaming service, and those tuners can't pick up any IPTV streams that I am aware of.

I didn’t think so, but wondered if WMC “tuning” to a channel would be the same as launching a stream. Might require different technology like what Playon is doing.

Might still work for the locals if they can’t separate out the tv feed from the bandwidth. I believe that has always been the case for Comcast internet-only subscribers.

Comcast in my area they shut down locals must use a Comcast box or cable card with Cable TV sub ! They didnt like the fact internet only customers could use regular TV for locals.

The FCC has allowed cable operators to encrypt basic cable (local stations) for about 5 years now. Prior to this, it was illegal for them to do so.
