How will Firewall allow WMC?

#1

Post by MikeVT » Wed Apr 20, 2016 5:20 pm

I just installed and setup WMC on my Surface Pro Windows 8.1 Pro. It's using HDHomerun Prime (cablecard) and Extend (antenna). Using HDHomeun apps or VLC, channels can be viewed on the display but WMC can't show any channel. It responded "Service is unavailable" or "No TV Signal". When I turned Windows Firewall off, it can show any channel. I can't find an app to allow on Windows Firewall. Can't find a right program name under Windows/ehome. Thank you.

The HDHomeRun software is "supposed" to automatically add Windows firewall rules; but sometimes it doesn't work.

You can create a firewall rule to allow all traffic from the IP address of your HDHR Prime. To prevent the IP address of the Prime from changing, add a DHCP reservation in your router. You can also add a firewall rule to unblock the Windows Media Center Receiver Service (ehrecvr.exe).

Thanks! Just ehrecvr.exe is added to the unblock list and it works! :D
