For clarification, this is not a true cold boot. It's a variation of hibernation, only instead of storing the full contents of memory on the system drive, it only stores the kernel session and device drivers. Also, the system used in the video was a UEFI system, hence the fast hand-off from POST to Windows 8.

its really all semantics... it may not be a "true" cold boot, but it seems to do a darn good job of making the old cold boot obsolete.
Of course, as someone who just turns on my HTPC from sleep 97% of the time, media center is all ready to go by the time my tv screen lights up. So this doesn't have a huge impact on me.
