MP4 in Recorded TV?
Can Windows Media Center be configured to display (& play) MP4 files in the "Recorded TV" section/panel?

Kind of. There is a program called Recorded TV HD: http://www.recordedtvhd.com http://www.recordedtvhd.comLadislaus wrote:

This program is much better looking than the default Recorded TV in WMC. It also lets you define any file type and any file location and seamlessly integrates them all together under one GUI.
For example, it shows all my Recorded TV wtv file's, MP4 tv downloads, and mkv tv rips which are all in different locations in one place on WMC.

This. RTVHD is a great way to seamlessly consolidate your recordings with other media files.
There is a new beta version which incorporates an updated API for the meta data. This should keep it running for a while longer.

Are you a Recorded TV HD user or want to give it a try? Check out the new community-made update; Recorded TV HD v2.1.1

I like RTVHD but it can be buggy and slow. I would love some roundabout way to do it within native interface. It is a lot smoother and passes the WAF much better. I have to tell you guys, not having WMC on Windows 10 or xbox one is really a bummer. It really still is a great way to watch TV even in 2017...

That's why I am on Windows 7! RecordedTVHD has been rock solid for me on the HTPC, Ceton and Xbox extenders.redstar92 wrote:I like RTVHD but it can be buggy and slow. I am on Windows 8.1 but it does feel long in tooth now I do like a lot about win 10, wish that at least the movies and tv app would play WTV files. Its super lightweight and quick app.

I worked on the WMC in Windows 10 project for about a year. With a little effort it is possible to get WMC wedged back into win10.
