X10 wireless window sensors...

#1

Post by tony_park » Sun Jun 12, 2011 8:52 pm

Hi

I wonder if anyone can advise if there are any x10 window/door sensors that can be used on an x10 home automation system?

The plan is to have a small number of windows monitored with these sensors, along with the front and back door, the idea being that if any of these contacts are broken, it automatically turns off our whole house ventilation system. Do such components exist? Looking for wireless to save needing to run wires all over the place.

Posted this on windows experts, but trying to cover as many locations as possible, since I suspect its a fairly specialist request!

Thanks
Tony

I may or may not have made this forum specifically after seeing your question at WEC....

There is really only one X10 product that does the windows/door contact you are looking for. The unit that send info wirelessly to your X10 system is the DS7000. The actual magnet is either the DS10A (wired to the unit) or DS12A (connects wirelessly to the unit). DS12A is also slimmer, and has a tamper sensor.

Ebay is probably your best source for buying those in bulk. The DS12A sets you back about $20 a pop, whereas the DS10A is <$4 each.
