Samsung Galaxy S4 IR Remote - Media Center Support?

#1

Post by TheOsburnFamil » Sun May 26, 2013 12:03 am

I'm about the get a Galaxy S4. It'll be my first android phone after having been a Windows 7 phone almost from their beginning. I just can't stand the lack or poor support of apps...

I know the SGS4 has IR built in and can be paired to IR devices. Anyone know if you can program it for a MediaCenter remote like you can with the Harmony remotes?

looks like it doesn't let you plug in codes, but instead makes you tell it the manufacturer--and then it just blasts away until you say OK, found it. Meh.

it's got some cool features, but the focus seems to be watching live TV. Really, Samsung?? No basic Media Center buttons at all. It's all about live TV.

I do love the "rooms" feature.

I just got the S4. It's a fantastic phone. I did not see any way it add codes for Media Center. It does support a ton of tv and cable box manufacturers though. I wouldn't really use the Samsung app anyway. If anything I would use Ceton's app.

Got the S4 on release. I was also looking into using it as a MCE remote, basically found this remote for $10.

Honestly, I'm going to continue to rock Ceton's app, but this $10 is good from trolling tv's ;)
HTPC Noob....Learning tho
