Delete extra at end of WTV files?

#1

Post by rakosnik » Mon Dec 15, 2014 1:07 am

Is there a way to delete extra video at the end of a wtv file without re-encoding it? For instance if I record something for 90 minutes, but the last 30 minutes is just extra junk is there a way to delete the last 30 minutes?

I vaguely remember starting to look into this before and I stumbled upon VideoReDo. Can VideoReDo accomplish what I asking or is VideoReDo just another video editor?

Can I hope for even more than just deleting extra junk from the ending or even the beginning of the WTV file? Could I delete the commercials from the middle of the WTV file without re-encoding?

When I say re-encoding, I'm talking about something that is going to take hours to accomplish. If it is going to take a few seconds or maybe even a few minutes, I can tolerate that.

As long as the file is not copy-protected, VideoRedo can open it, and then you can cut out any portion of the file.

That's great to hear! :D Is VideoReDo the only thing that is capable of doing this? Why is it able to do this?

Which version of VideoReDo should I get? or is there a free application that will do the same thing?

There are numerous video editing software products available. However, in my opinion, VIdeoRedo is the easiest to use and worth every penny.

Download a free trial of the latest version and see if it meets your needs.

In the old days we could convert to dvr-ms and then use dvredit.
It's easy to clip the front and back off.

You need to watch the settings so you don't end up with a faulty conversion and a deleted original.
It won't do copy protected content. I had problems with some of the unprotected stuff as well.

NOTE....
I now use videoredo for all of them
