I have an mp4 file that plays fine on an Echo extender but crashes the local WMC session when I try to play it there. I suspect some setting in LAV or some hardware acceleration setting, but I don't know where to start. In general how does one troubleshoot these kinds of issues? Are there any logs or events I should be looking at?
Thanks

If you haven't all ready, run the file through http://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download Mediainfo will tell you what you are dealing with, then maybe someone would be able to suggest something.

Thanks. I actually resolved the issue by making the 64 bit version of Media Player the default. Now everything plays fine. I have no idea why the 32 bit version didn't work on some files, since I have both 32 bit and 64 bit LAV filters installed. At least one version works.
