Hi All,
So I am using DVD Fab Blu Ray Ripper to backup a blu ray that I own. I am using the MKV format and the h264 audio copy profile. The problem I am having is that the sound output ends up being only 2.0 when it should be DTS 5.1.
I am using the Shark Codec pack.
So I'm questioning if this issue is with my ripping profile or with the settings in Shark007.
Any input?
Thanks,
John

The codec pack doesn't break 5.1. It would only seem to do this if you have lets say AAC 5.1 and are using optical... which cannot be passed through to a receiver. HDMI can do 5.1 PCM, but optical is retarded, it can only do 2 channel PCM, OR pass through AC3 or DTS 5.1.
I think the ripper/encoder program is at fault. I remember trying a WTV to 264 encoder that never encoded to 5.1... it kept changing audio to 2. If there is a pass thru option, like handbrake/vid coder, then you can do that.
