I'm interested in ripping 3D BluRay movies. I've tried DVDFab, and the best I can figure with it is to use the 3D BluRay Rip part of the software. However, this only rips the movie to a side-by-side or top/bottom 3D video. This plays OK on my 3D TV, but it drops half of the resolution because in side-by-side and top/bottom format, the left/right images get squeezed into a single 1920x1080 frame. I'd really like to be able to rip them to a video with frame packing to preserve the full resolution of the original video, just like when I play the original BluRay.
I tried just using the BluRay Copy feature in DVDFab (both with just the main movie and also with the entire disc), but this results in a BD-ROM disc that seems to only allow me to play the 2D version of the movie, no matter which title I choose to copy.
Anybody had success in ripping a 3D BluRay?

I've tried DVDFab and MakeMKV, not had any luck with either.
But AnyDVD HD can do it if you rip to ISO. Then you just use Virtual CloneDrive or something to mount it.

If I use AnyDVD HD to rip to ISO, what would prevent me from burning that ISO to a BD-ROM?

If you have gone to the effort of ripping to an iso why would you want to then burn it again to a BD-R?

The intent would be to save my original copy of the movie in a safe place that isn't going to get handled by children, etc. They could then use the copy instead of the original. When the copy gets damaged, I'll still have my original in perfect condition.StumpyBloke wrote:If you have gone to the effort of ripping to an iso why would you want to then burn it again to a BD-R?
Yes, and I can buy dual layer BD-ROM media for around $5-7 each.stonethecrows wrote:The majority of BR movies are dual layer (<=50GB). Some are triple layer. That's all I have to say.
