Edit post time limit?

#1

Post by tonywagner » Mon Jan 29, 2018 2:28 pm

Hello. Is there a time limit to editing posts? Could this limit be removed? I posted a tutorial in a new topic yesterday and I realized today that I could fix one of the steps, but I can't seem to find any edit function now. A permanent edit function would be especially useful on the first post of a topic, which often includes code or links that could require updating.

There is a one hour limit but I agree that it would be helpful to be able to edit posts and consolidate new information with old posts

In the past we had some people that were making statements and then editing their post and taking their words back, in other words stirring up trouble then erasing their statements.

The one hour rule was activated.

Maybe now that things have calmed down and most of the troublemakers are gone...

Perhaps the 1 hour rule should be removed.

There was also another joker who took the time to change every single one of his previous posts to a smiley face.

I sent a proposal to the staff to remove or relax the edit time limit.

Wow, I never knew "The Green Button" was once "The Hot Button", apparently :)

Removing the edit time limit would be best for me, because I could share a script or app in the forum and edit the first post for any updates to the script or app.

Yea, I just edited a post I did at like 1 (EST) today, very nice to have this feature back.

I hated making silly grammar mistakes that I missed and didn't see them for hours later and not being able to fix them :-/

Thank-you!

Extending the limit does come in handy to correct punctuation, grammar, etc.
